You and Ayano were sitting in bed together, a hand on each side of the handheld console. Because of that, you were both quite close together, shoulder to shoulder even. The only thing distracting you from the awkwardness is the soreness and itchiness of your leg stump. Yeah, you still were healing from that. Perhaps a distraction was in order for you.
“So um… What kind of games do you have on here?” you ask her. The fact the two of you were thrown into this predicament left you with little mental preparation for talking with Ayano.
“Uh-Um,” Ayano was blushing hard right now. It seems she was as unprepared as you were. “I was thinking maybe… Well, what kind of games do you like?”
“Uh…” You were embarrassed to say romance visual novels, so you lied instead. “I’m okay with anything you like.”
“Anything I like?” Ayano wasn’t expecting an answer like that. “M-maybe you’ll like Pokemon Left and Right?” Pokemon? All these future game franchises had such weird names, you thought. “It’s this strategy game where you collect monsters and pit them against each other in fights and you have to use items and strategies to-” As Ayano continued, you lost track of what she was saying among all the information and how excited she suddenly turn. She seemed to notice though. “Oh. Sorry. I- Am I rambling?”
“No, not at all. I actually like listening to you talk like this. You sound so enthusiastic compared to normal.”
Ayano blushed a bit. “O-okay. L-let me show you how to play.”
For the rest of the day, you hung out with Ayano, growing closer to her and learning about the games she liked to play. Occasionally you would take a break to practice walking on your new leg with her help.
The next couple of days had passed of this routine, and now you were scheduled to head to Heinlein tomorrow morning. And given how Monstown turned out, it was obvious to you that you might not have another chance to ask this.
“Hey Ayano? After… whatever happens tomorrow, you wanna go out sometime?” you shot.
“Go out? For what?” Ayano asked.
“For a date.”
“A date?!”
“A-are you sure? You already have 3 girlfriends. After you rescue Izumi, you’ll be at-”
“That’s nothing.” You hold Ayano tighter. “As long as I get to be with you, then I’ll do whatever it takes to make it work. And besides, I’d rather I tell you how I feel than.”
“I…” Ayano was at a loss for words. Although there was no more need for them. You and Ayano leaned into each other and locked lips, adding her to your polycule.
