“I…wanted to see you again,” you said honestly. You figured lying would make things more complicated than necessary.
“Oh? Why’s that?” Sakaguchi said, tilting her head. She seemed a bit oblivious to the implications of what you said.
“Well…I wanted to see you in action again. The reason I slipped in the pool earlier was because I was distracted from watching you swimming. From how fast you moved back there and how fast you run out here, it’s hard to remember you’re even human,” you said.
Sakaguchi started smiling. “Heh, well I am not entirely human as you see,” she said tapping her running blade. “Thanks to cybernetics, I have been able to surpass my mortal limits,” she said proudly. “Although I did hear compliments like yours before, so I suppose I always had such power.”
You let out a girly giggle at Sakaguchi continuing her overly formal yet dorky speech pattern. “Well, not only that but also you seem like a…” you thought about your next words carefully. “You saved my life, and I’d like to get to know you better at least.”
“Really?” Sakaguchi said, with a slight blush. She checked the time on a nearby clock. “Well, I have a bit of time left of practice. How about we get to know each other over a little game?”
“A game?” you ask.
“‘The best way to learn about a person, whether they be an adversary or friend, is on the field of battle.’ You know who said that?” Sakaguchi said.
“Uh… Oda Nubanaga?” you guess.
“No," she said chuckling. "Kahng the Konquerer, silly.”
You had no idea who that was. Maybe it was some alien or something?
Sakaguchi jogs over to a control panel below the bleachers. Using her nose, since she still doesn't have any arms, she types something into the panel. At this point, you figure she must mean like a sports game and she’s typing it in right now.
“So...what game did you have in mind?” you asked.
Your answer would be answered for you, as part of the field transformed into the setting of the game Sakaguchi had in mind:
