On and on they drove, and the barricade that had caused them so much trouble became nothing more than a bad memory.
For all that happened over the past two days, the highways were remarkably peaceful and clear (with but a few rapidly passing cars and a few abandoned ones, here and there) and the three were able to go in relative silence.
Although the radio was unreliable where they were, being so far from proper civilization, the signals were just clear enough for them to listen to the news and learn what was going on. Although, of course, there were still reports of looting and stealing and burglary throughout the world, it seemed that the vast majority of unrest had finally ceased, the ponies having finally accepted that there was no more Stop N' Burger products to be found. As reassuring as this may have sounded, the news also noted that various state governments were actually approaching Stop N' Burger about the possibility of expanding their supply, and were actually offering to "subside Stop N' Burger's expansion and development, in order to allow for the needs of both Earth and Equestria to be met."
"They're handing over control, then." Ian said, looking out the window. "They handing over everything to those guys, just so that they can keep the ponies happy and keep them from getting pissed again."
"It does sound rather...bad, yeah." Alissa said. "It....well, it makes sense. This way, this....Chrysalis person controls both Equestria and Earth, just by controlling how much fast food her restaurants churn out."
"And we were helping her." Ian said. "We were helping her take over the world, and we didn't know it."
"We couldn't have known." Horace said. "We were just a few minimum-wage workers looking to keep from going hungry, that's all. How the hell were we supposed to know that a...bug queen...thing, was planning to use us to take over the world...and another world that we didn't know about as well."
"I guess." Ian said. "I suppose that we can make up for helping her by stopping this, I guess."
"I suppose so....Alissa, how close are we to the HQ?"
"Just a few hours away, I think." she said. "It's right off the main highway, so OH WHAT THE HELL--"
Horace and Ian turned their heads in shock, and looked out just in time to see...
Choice 1: A flock of pegasi flying just above the car.
Choice 2: A small army's worth of ponies marching down the highway.
