Vanilla's voice was bright and airy as she pulled up a rolling trolley next to her. Atop the trolley sat a large covered tray, "It's crucial to your recovery that you get plenty of rest and good food, so I made you some breakfast! I apologize if it seems too much, trying to portion control for someone so small proved to be surprisingly... difficult," she admitted.
You smiled politely and nodded your assent, and as she lifted the cover from the tray you gasped, with eyes widened and your mouth watered.

Resting atop the plate was a veritable mountain of steaming delicious food, piled high with scrambled eggs, little sausages, hashbrowns, and all kinds of little fruits thrown into the mix, and sitting next to the plate a large glass of frothy, creamy milk.
Never before had you seen such a large assemblage of tasty delectables in one package, not even when conjured by your own hand. Truly it was a meal fit for a king. You're not sure if you're going to ba able to eat all of this. You turned your head to gape at Vanilla in awe, who merely smiled at you with eyes closed. "I'm so glad that you like it, dear."

Finally, you found your voice. "This... this is... T-thank you, Miss Vanilla. I appreciate the effort. It all looks really delicious."
Vanilla practically glowed at your compliment and she coquettishly giggled. "You're quite welcome, young man. You're our VIP patient at the moment and I wanted to make sure that your nutrition is well taken care of. Please, go right ahead and dig in."

You didn't need to be told twice. The strain of recovery severely drained your magic reserves and left you almost weak with hunger. You took the fork in hand and began shoveling food into your mouth, barely taking any time to taste it. Every few bites you took a moment to wash down the food with a gulp of milk, and then continued eating. You couldn't quite put your finger on it, but there was something about the milk that made it taste more delicious than any other.

Meanwhile, behind you, Vanilla standss watch over you with a strange smile and with her hands clasped over her chest. Her hands rubbed together in glee as she watched you eat the food she prepared. Everything was going all according to plan.

Despite the veritable mountain of food placed in front of you, it didn't take long until you had packed all of it away and left behind an empty plate. your belly was full, you were in a good mood, and you could already feel some of your strength coming back to you.
You belched contentedly, then covered your mouth as you remembered just who you were with. "Uh, sorry about that. Don't mean to be rude," you muttered sheepishly.

Vanilla didn't seem too perturbed by your actions, however, and giggled into her palm. "There's no need to worry about that. I'll just take it as a compliment to the chef. I didn't expect you to eat /all/ of it once, truth be told. I was worried that you wouldn't be able to handle the portions but it seems that I was thankfully mistaken."

"Well, it's mostly when I'm low on mana that I get that hungry. Most of it will burn away and help to do the job of healing my body and restoring energy. It's kind of like when a saiyan needs to eat 30 square meals of food to recover after a big fight."

Vanilla seemed bewildered by your cultural reference and asked, "Saiyan? What's a saiyan?"

You blanched as you realized that you may have just blown your cover, and quickly backpedaled, "A saiyan is... um... It's from a TV show... let's just call it a human thing and leave it at that." You gave yourself a mental slap across the wrist. Shame on you for blurting out anime references in random places. What's next, were you going to stand up and start making Jo Jo poses?

Instead of pursuing the matter, seeing the strained look on your face Vanilla merely shook her head and shrugged. "It's fine. You don't have to tell me anything. I'm sure that you'll want to explain everything in time. In the meantime I want you to feel as safe and comfortable as possible while you recover. All of us do."

This took the tension right out of your body and you relaxed your shoulders before letting out a big sigh. She was right. There was no need to worry about that now. You were safe and far away from any danger and that was all that mattered. Still, you had a lot of questions about the world you were in and you hoped to uncover them so that you get a better understanding of the predicament you were in.
