[Flashback continues]
Caren took another glance at the picture displayed on Miriam's phone, it showed you with your main 4 friends, which all happened to be girls, and Caren being herself didn't take longer than a single second to realize that at least 3 of them were pretty bottom heavy, with just one sporting more of a hourglass shape. They were also quite pretty, perhaps in a less conventional way since it was a beach pic, so, no fancy makeup or other stuff.
"Looks like your son is already popular with the ladies..." She said sincerely but in a way that Miriam found cute, prompting her to giggle.
"He doesn't believe he is" Miriam laughed "If you asked him yourself he'd tell you they're just all friends" Then she leaned closer to whisper "I've got sources confirming that he definitely is but doesn't even see it"
"Well, he inherited some of your best traits, it's hardly a surprise" Caren said, making Miriam laugh a little more. She then whispered again.
"The two at his sides are interested by the way"
Caren looked at the pic again, it was the 2 tallest girls of the bunch, and also the curviest. One of them with wavy brown hair and pretty hazel eyes, plus very fair skin similar to Caren's and a chest that definitely surpassed her own. And on the bottom she was no slouch either, though technically she was the least endowed of the 4. Or at least, that much she could ascertain from looking at their hips and thighs, but Caren considered herself an expert and her judgement on girl's butt sizes were almost always spot on.
The other also had fair skin but a more balanced tone that suggested she spent at least some more time under the sun. The tallest one, her moderately long black hair tied into a ponytail. By looking at her hips, thighs and noticing that this girl had a little bit of pudge overall, Caren could tell this girl easily had the biggest butt of them all. She was actually impressed, she hadn't seen girls with that kind of build very often.
"I'll have you know that one of them has earned my blessing, but she hasn't made her move yet" Miriam added, giggling.
"Oh gee, I dunno if I can compete" Caren laughed "I mean, I have 4 years on them"
"Oh please, you're 2 decades too young to be worrying about that stuff!" Miriam chuckled "You're quite pretty yourself. Plus, platinum blonde hair and gold eyes aren't precisely common"
"Somehow, I feel he may prefer black for both" Caren said, giving Miriam a cheeky smile and a slight giggle. She caught on, blushing a little but giggling along with her.
"Well... it sounds weird when said out loud but... it's really not so strange for a man to seek a woman that bears some resemblance to his mother. People see it all the time with various celebs!" Miriam said, but Caren could feel that she was more flustered than she let on.
"Yeah, you're right. But still, I can't be as available as those beauties" Caren said "Hmm... come to think of it, are you setting us up to compete for him or something?"
"Honey, the competition for him began about 5 years ago. I didn't start it, but that doesn't mean I can't oversee it" Miriam replied.
"I believe you have as much of a chance as any of the other girls, and that'd make you the second one that has earned my approval so there's that"
"Whoah" Caren's eyes widened for a moment but she quickly regained her cool "Hey, thanks for the vote of confidence"
"You're welcome" Miriam nodded.
"Can I say something that might sound wrong but it's not meant to offend?" Caren suddenly asked, to which Miriam raised an eyebrow but nodded.
"What happens if he chooses a girl you don't approve of?"
Miriam looked at her in the eye and smirked, but that wasn't her usual playful or cheeky smile. It was a smirk more befitting of someone like Mayor Patricia, of someone in a position of power that had just been questioned about it.
"Well, let's just say that relationship won't last long"
Caren felt slightly uneasy about this, but felt like there was more to it and it reflected in her own eyes, as Miriam looked at them before she continued.
"It's not something like being a control freak or anything, no" She said, laughing a little and returning to her usual tone "But I hope you understand that I love my son too much to let him hurt himself and be in a bad relationship that will further damage him. Besides, you never date or marry just the person, sooner or later you also meet their family" Miriam explained and Caren nodded in agreement, she was making sense to her at least.
"Call me a Mother Hen if you like, but I don't think we as parents should let our children do something that we know will harm them. Sure, people say stuff like 'let them learn by themselves', but I wouldn't have let him touch a hot iron just to learn that it burns the harsh way. Same principle. If it's a whim, let it be this mama's sole whim in this life"
"You know what? I can respect that. I don't think I've met as many parents that care that much" Caren said "But in your honest opinion, what do my odds look like?"
Miriam laughed some more "They're pretty good. There's several other girls that are interested that I haven't met formally yet, though I eventually will... I'd say that your fiercest competition would be only the other one that's got my blessing"
Caren couldn't help but wonder if it was the chubby one with the bigger butt or the hourglass shaped one. In either case, if they were such close friends, she'd definitely have a bit of an uphill battle, though then again, she had a lot more experience and was blessed with one-of-a-kind abilities that she could very well exploit...
[Back to the present]
'Can't wait to see Miriam's face' Caren thought with a smile. On that past meeting with her, and across several more she could tell that Miriam loved her boy very much, and seemed to be aching for more bonding time with him. Luckily for her, Caren was eager to grant her her wish.
She walked into the Mayor's office without issue, as she was already known by practically everyone there. She walked up to the receptionist, who anticipated that the young nun had come to see Mayor Patricia herself, informing her that she was currently overseeing construction work on the other side of the city.
"That's fine, I'd like to see her assistant... Mrs. Santos"
"Oh, Miriam? Yeah, she's at the office. I think she was having her second lunch" The receptionist said with a nonchalant shrug. She was about to give the silver haired girl the indications to Miriam's office but Caren giggled and simply told her she already knew.
"Knock knock~" She said playfully as she indeed knocked the door to Miriam's office, slightly opening it anyway to take a peek. There she was, sitting at her desk and apparently having a pretty generous helping of Salsa Shack food.
"Caren? What a nice surprise!" Miriam said, finishing the last portion of a large burrito, then wiping her hands and mouth with a napkin "I would've gotten you some if I had known you'd be coming"
Caren had come to hang out with Miriam more than a few times, making her company while she dealt with mostly routine, boring computer work, basically paperwork but digital, so these kinds of meetings were far from unusual.
"Don't worry. I'm more in the mood for something cheesy anyway"
"Oh? Then dig in! I got these new large nachos, they're extra spicy and crispy but my god, they really loaded the cheese! I don't even think I can finish it all" Miriam said, happily eating one of those anyway. Caren's eyes widened for a moment and she almost drooled, but she regained some of her composure and simply skipped her way towards her and sat down in front of her desk, needing no further prompt to start eating.
"Let me guess, Father Díaz went on another one of those errands that may last more than a day?" Miriam said as she grabbed another nacho.
"He would've let me go early if I asked anyway" Caren shrugged "There isn't much to do at the Church these days. Plus, with me gone, all the other nuns can finally breathe" She said with a very cheeky smile, grabbing a nacho and scooping up as much of the cheesy dip as was physically possible, gleefully eating it.
"I guess I'll have to scratch that one from my list of prospective jobs should I need a new one" Miriam said and the two of them chuckled heartily.
"At least you won't get scolded for accidentally ringing the bell" Caren giggled some more.
"You mean some small bells at the entrance?" Miriam raised an eyebrow.
"Nah, the big one. The same that announces the hour along the giant tower clock" Caren explained in her most nonchalant tone yet.
"Wow. You might give some of my friends a run for their money" Miriam smiled.
"By the way, aren't you wondering why I'm here?" Caren asked as she greedily ate several nachos in quick succession.
"I suppose my charming looks and engaging conversation aren't the cause?" Miriam laughed but she had to restrain herself to not choke on her food.
"Oh, you know those are always part of the cause" Caren giggled "You're really like the kind of fun aunt I always wish I had. Anyway, I'm here because I've got a gift for you"
"Hmm? A gift?" Miriam's eyes lit up "Awww, you really shouldn't have, honey. I know you're working hard to help your mama with her condition" She said, feeling guilty already.
"Don't worry. It's not that kind of gift" Caren said, smiling more when she saw Miriam's confused look "It's more of the priceless kind, didn't cost me money, but I'm sure you'll love it anyway"
"In that case, I can't even begin to guess what it is. Color me surprised" Miriam said, and by now Caren had noted that the thicc mom had been grinding her sizable rump on her fancy-looking executive chair.
"Sure! But we should finish the food before" Caren said, and the two ladies wolfed down what remained of that large lunch in a matter of mere minutes. Caren then nonchalantly reached into the back of her leggings and fished you out from her deadly chasm of a crack, holding her hand out towards Miriam, showing off a shrunken you...
