...he already knew (Rainbow, Sonata, Etc.)
Equestria Invading
Chapter 20
"...eerilee, listen, you're not exactly in the best state of mind right now!" Came a voice from outside, Luna gazing back at the source in discontent. Jack, however, shot up in bed. He couldn't recognize the voice, not yet, he could tell, but some itch at the stem of his brain told him to be scared.
"Please, it has to be me!" Wailed Cheerilee's voice, prompting Jack to scramble backwards into the corner. "I'm the reason he's like this! I...I..."
"Jack, please, you have nothing to worry about! As far as..." Luna tried to reason with him, but topped talking when a certain grey-hued blob wedged itself halfway through the wide doorway, the owner nonetheless having to paddle her legs to wriggle her copious behind free of the 'narrow' entrance.
Jack pressed his back harder against the wall, shoulder blades aching as he tried to compact himself into the small space. Seeing Derpy stand next to Luna was a sight that startled, scared, and confused him all at the same time; the supposedly moronic pegasus stood just a few inches below the near eleven-foot princess, but her stomach practically exploded out off her torso and poured onto the floor in a large, spheric mass with a large crease drooping around the naval, surpassing Luna's belly by a few extra feet in width and size whilst awkwardly skewing her doughy arms upwards against the added width along her hips.
'Supposedly' being the key word, of course, by the way Derpy looked at him. It didn't look like the usual dimwitted guffaw she carried about whenever she was tripping over things or rolling over people by accident, but rather that she was staring right at him despite having one eye pointed at the ceiling and one at the ground, her thoroughly rounded face locked in a gaze of sympathy no different from Rarity's when she was visiting the day before.
"Hello." She spoke firmly, but Jack's sweat soaked into the blanket, having recognized her voice; it was the second pony's, the one next to Cheerilee during her attack.
"...hi?" Jack squeaked, scared to act against her in any way.
"I'm here because of certain...well, careless errors I'd made on my part when incapacitating you at the library, leading to a majority of the injuries you'd sustained afterwards." She explained, holding her hands behind her back, but Jack barely paid any attention to what she was describing. All that was on his mind was that Derpy was speaking, and not like some dopey comic relief; she enunciated every syllable in with total eloquence and clarity, and in a voice fit to command authority while also possessing an incredibly soothing and graceful quality, but only enough to relax Jack so he merely felt lost and confused, rather than taken hostage. "As such, I'm hereby appointed under Luna's command to-"
"Let me in!" Commanded Cheerilee, Luna and Jack having been to distracted to realize she was forcing her way in. Derpy opened her mouth to interject, but was pushed aside as Cheerilee came loose with an audible pop, with Derpy's mass getting the better of her and knocking her down, a resounding boom rattling the walls that made all the pony's builds slosh about.
Nonetheless, Cheerilee didn't look away from Jack, hands cupped over her mouth as she observed the terrified human with teary eyes. "Jack...I...I'm so sorry!"
"G-Get away from me!" Jack squirmed against the walls, vainly trying to distance himself from her again, but Cheerilee wilted back with a hurt expression. "Get back!"
"Jack, please!" She begged, the tears budding enough to roll down her cheeks. "I-I promise, I never meant to hurt you! I only...just...I'm so, so..."
"Cheerilee, please!" Derpy pleaded from the floor, busy rocking around to right herself up. "Let me handle this! It's only best if Jack doesn't see-"
"I need to do this!" Cheerilee yelled back, tears flinging off of her face. Even Luna herself was startled by the outburst, but Cheerilee only followed by a weak sniffle, then fell to her knees, openly sobbing. "D-Derpy did everything right! It was me that did all that, the broken bones, the blood, the...the...oh, I'm so sorry!"
