"Now," Luna said, shifting her bulk around the uneasy question. "Now i have to know weather or not I can trust you with that information."

"Wh...what do you mean?" Jack asked, a little perturbed.

"Like I said, you must understand what is at stake. Not a word about any of this can leak out to anyone's ears. I need to know if i can trust you with this knowledge before i can let you go."

"Wait a minute." Jack said, frustration on the tip of his voice. "You mean...you're not letting me go?"

"Hey! You should be thankful. The alternative was to keep you here forever. And as fun as that sounds, I don't want to have to go through the trouble of risking people noticing your absence. You need to prove yourself to me that you can keep your moth shut about all this before i even think about letting you leave!"

"But I--!"

Jack was the royal guard pony from before came back in carrying his food. A metal bowl of pinkish-grey stew, a hunk of bread, a cube of cheese, a mug of milk less Coffee, water served in a handless china mug, and one sugar tablet. The guard set the tray of food down on a nearby metal top table. Jack recoiled at the sight of the so called dish. The stew was a filthy liquid mess that had the appearance of vomit.

"Well..." Jack said as he collected his nerve. "I guess i should be thankful I won't stay here forever."

Jack took up his mug of coffee, paused for an instant to collect his nerve, and gulped the oily-tasting stuff down. When he had winked the tears out of his eyes he suddenly discovered that he was hungry. He began swallowing spoonfuls of the stew, which, in among its general sloppiness, had cubes of spongy pinkish stuff which was probably a preparation of meat.

"So...how exactly are you going to know that I won't tell anyone about this?" Jack asked Luna through the spoonfuls. He personally did not intend to tell anyone about the circumstances of the war, but he figured through his college educated mind that telling her that won't improve his chances of persuading her.

"You must be tested."

Jack's eyes bugged out for a bit as he chocked down more of the vile coffee. There was a sly manner to which that last word was broadcast.

"Jack, tonight you will begin what will be a week long testing and education period. Also, please do not feel scared of me, I have no intention of hurting anyone, especial you. You may speak freely, or ask any question you like."

Swallowing hard, Jack began to work up the nerve to finally ask something. "What kind of test is it?"

Luna half chuckled. "This is a personality test of sorts. We want to make sure you are the kind of person who can keep a secret, especially a very important one. he test will hardly be physical in nature, though it will take its toll on your body." Luna had floated off at some point in their conversation, but Jack was hardly in a position to notice such small details as a being roughly the size of a car disappearing from his vision. Luna stopped at the foot of the bed, her belly accidentally smooshing his feet and raised up her hand a bit. "I will be psychically testing your mind. The exact nature of the process cannot be revealed to you until after the test is finished. Most humans will feel exhausted afterword. Most get cold sweats and begin to tremble, some even develop fevers.> Jack's heart rate spiked at that description. "Though you will be well taken care of. You will be taken to your quarters after the test, or during if it is too much of a toll on you, and we will provide all of your food and drink for your stay. And don't worry, no harm will come to you. I'm very careful about your kind. Do you have more questions?"

Jack finally closed his mouth, and took a deep breath. The aching feeling in his stomach had faded away. "No more questions. I want to take the test."

"Very well. You will lose consciousness during the test, but I assure you, Jack, you will be fine." Luna's came to a rest over over the center of his face. He felt a tingling in the back of his brain, then a warmth over his head, and then darkness.

Shane came to on what he could tell was a bed, and with a Pony hovering above him. It was not Luna, but it was still a pony. The Princess's warning that he would feel terrible did come to pass. His head pounded with the force of a migraine he had never before experienced, both his hands were trembling, and his clothes were all soaked with sweat.

"Jack, our princess teleported you down here after your test. I have been instructed to tell you that we will be giving you the rest of the course, and tomorrow you will be meeting more of our fold." The Pony waddled away, and he fell to sleep almost instantly.

In the morning, Luna introduced him to all of the other ponies in her little band of rebels, or whatever it was. They were all a little scared of him, as most of them hadn't been introduced to a human before. "Most ponies have never ventured outside of Equestria." Luna explained to him. They were standing in one of the larger underground rooms that was lit by some sort of ball of energy at the top of the room, almost like an immaterial light bulb. Vegetation was growing everywhere, to make the interior space almost look like it was outside, save for the lack of a sky.

The ponies themselves were quite the sight. Including Rainbow, Sonata, Derpy, Rarity, and Miss Cherilee, they were at least seven more ponies that he had yet to see on campus that were in the room. Several of them backed away from Shane, sharp contrasts to the titanically powerful beings he had met up to now.

"At any rate, during your stay here, I have arranged for...'supervisor', if you will, to look after you. I know that you might think that your a grown man and shouldn't have his hand held, do remember that you broke your lungs by getting sat on." That last note was spoken with great authority at Rainbow, a tip, or a warning from a motherly figure that could split her in half with a sideways glance?

Luna motioned for one of the ponies to come up to her side, the one that would be his so called 'supervisor'. It was one of the ponies that...
