"...we should play a board game!"

"A board game? Seriously?" you asked, assuming they were joking.

"Yep!" Misha chirped, "I did tell you we played board games here!"

"You realise I'm way too small to roll a dice or move the pieces, right?"

"You won't have to! You're gonna be a piece!"

"You've got to be joking." you laughed, "That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard." you still fell under the assumption that they were joking until you notice Shizune was on the other side of the room sifting through the board games on the desk. The reality slowly sunk in; they were serious.

"Nope! No joking! Don't look so worried, it'll be fun!"

Shizune eventually came over and puts down a giant chess board on the table and began placing the pieces on the squares.

"Aww chess?!" Misha pouted, signing her words simultaneously, "Chess is so boring! You always beat me, Shi-chan."

Shizune nodded in your direction whilst signing in response to her friend.

"Ohhh!!" Misha said knowingly, "Good idea, Shi-chan!!"

"What? What did she say?" you tug at Misha's sleeve to get her attention. A shadow is cast over you and you look up to Shizune's hand coming right for you yet again. You fall backwards trying to evade her and are dropped on the board behind Shizune's pawns.

"You're going to be Shi-chan's king!" You turned around to look at Shizune who wore that all-too-familiar grin you'd learned to hate. "I wouldn't let her down if I were you!" Misha warned.

The game started off as engaging as your average game of chess. Well, an average game of chess that involved a tiny man. Shizune made a point to keep one hand close to you at all times, most likely in case you tried to run. To her credit, the idea of that hand snatching you up was easily enough incentive to stay put.

Misha's moves appeared rushed and lacked foresight. Shizune's moves were calculated and deliberate. You watched her eyes dart to every single piece on the board as if she were a computer analysing every single outcome before making a decision. You found yourself slowly losing interest in the game as you watched Shizune. She's such a fascinating girl. Everything she does oozes with passion and whether that terrified you or exited you, you were yet to decide, but you had to respect it.

"Check!" Misha called out happily in her sing-song voice, "Your King is all mine, Shi-chan!" she stared at you with a malicious grin before laughing.

You looked up at Shizune but her eyes weren't zipping around the board anymore. She was looking at you.

"Um..." you look back over to Misha, "is she okay?"

"It's your turn!" Misha informed you.

"What?!"

"You're the King. It's your turn."

You really wished you kept your attention on the game instead of Shizune now. There were three available spots you could go to but whether they were as dangerous as your current position you were yet to find out. And would you be messing with some kind of long term plan of Shizune's if you move to a certain spot?

"Okay... here." you say, carefully stepping over to the square to your left.

"Wahahaha! Too easy!" Misha sang as one of her bishops came gliding over to you. Misha grabbed you with her other hand and put the bishop in your place. "I finally did it! I beat you Shizune!" she boasted as she dangled you in front of the blue haired giant. She didn't look pleased.

"Hey, Misha. What's sign language for 'I'm sorry'?"

Misha put you on the table and showed you. You turned to Shizune and mimicked the hand expression as closely as you could.

"[I'm sorry]"

Shizune smiled and made some hand gestures back.

"What did she say?" you ask Misha.

"She said you're demoted to rook. I think she was joking."

Given that you threw her entire game in one single move, she probably wasn't joking. Despite the fact you hated the idea of being a chess piece, you had to give the girls credit; it had totally taken your mind off of your medicine. But now, back to the real world with its real problems. You decided to address the most glaring problem.

"So, what now? I can't exactly go back to my room tonight..." you hoped you weren't coming across as forward or even creepy. But the solution seemed obvious - you were gonna have to stay in one of the girls' bedrooms.
