Billy let out a gasp as his body tingled, feeling like he hit his funny bone all over. His body wasn't growing, it was turning black. He was unaware that the remote had scanned the room and being set to camouflage mode, had selected a form to help its user blend in. He tried to use the remote again, but his hands were covered over by the black stuff. This translucent black stuff extended away from him. Billy let out a quiet curse. The black stuff reached up around his shoulders until it wrapped over his head. For a second Billy panicked thinking he was going to be suffocated but found he could still breath. The changes kept going. The transparent material extended long past Billy’s hands and feet. As it got past him it grew a darker tint becoming more solid. The stuff also filled into his sides until it was like he had these large floppy wings.

This took about a minute and when it was done Billy was left lying in a pile of the now solidified black stuff. It had changed texture to a kind of fabric with little frills and details here and there but for the most part it was plain black. Billy lifted his arms and flapped his now wing like appendages. He had no idea what this was. Slowly getting up Billy felt the drag as the sheets, for lack of a better description, folded in and around him and dragged along the ground. It was like he was encased in a transparent black mesh. The stuff was solid fabric. Where had it come from; was it from him?

Billy heard a ding sound in his mind before a feminine, robotic voice spoke. "Camouflage mode active, timer set for 12 hours." That information at least let him know he was not stuck like this forever. Feeling moderately safe Billy took a rest. After a while he got up and slowly and arduously dragged himself to the remote. Problem was if he tried to reach for a button, folds of the back cloth covered it. He could not use his other arm to take up the slack because it too was covered and his hand unusable. So, Billy slumped down and just screamed to himself. “THIS IS SO STUPID!”

Eventually, after what felt like an eternity of nothingness, he heard the bedroom door open and the sound of his mother letting out a sigh as she entered her room. THUMP, THUMP on the carpeted floor coming closer. Billy had a moment of fear thinking of what it was like to be walked on again but fortunately nothing happened.

"What a day," Billy heard her say, throwing something on the bed with a soft thud, likely her purse. With his mother home, he knew he likely only had an hour or so until this camouflage ended and turned him back, so Billy’s spirits began to brighten. He thought about getting up but said no to himself. She walked all over me this morning and I survived. I can wait out an hour and then this can all be fixed.

"What's this doing on the floor?" Billy heard just before he felt something grab up some of the black fabric and yank him up high into their air. Billy dangled in the air and felt himself spin, a giant hand grabbed the other side and turned Billy up onto his back and for a second he was looking up at his mom. Immediately Billy felt a pinch on his abdomen and his arms and legs were folded over smothering out the light and Billy felt himself moving through the air. There was the sound of something heavy being moved and then Billy was being pressed onto a bed of something and then – OUCH – a hard ceiling was over him clipping the top of his head and shoulder as whatever was moved into place.

Patricia saw a black bra on the floor. Figuring she must have dropped it at some point while putting laundry away she snatched it up, folded it and slid open her underwear drawer, tucking it on top of her stack of bras. The drawer was packed full of the underwear in various shades and hues.

It didn’t take Billy long to guess he was in a drawer of some kind. He could tell he was on top of something and he felt something hard above him. It made sense. This camouflage thing was making sense too. Somehow the remote could make him look like something else so his mom had just picked him up and put him into a drawer. Thank goodness it wasn’t a slipper, Billy thought
