Chapter 12
Carmen weaves her way through the crowd of students, finally making it to Tina's locker. You see Tina closing her locker preparing to leave. Before you can call out to her, you feel Carmen's fingers quickly wrap around you and lift you off her shoulder. She's holding you a little too tight for comfort in her fist as she taps Tina on her shoulder.
"Hey nerd, I have your boyfriend for you!" she says, waiving you in front of her.
You look at Tina's giant face and slowly see it turn red as a tomato as she eyes you in Carmen's closed handed grip. She doesn't say anything to you or Carmen. She simply smiles shyly and holds out her hand. Carmen drops you in Tina's palm and smiles.
"You two lovebirds have fun" she teases, handing you your school supplies.
You watch Carmen walk away before turning your attention back to your friend. She carefully brings you up to her face and smiles affectionately at you.
"How was the rest of your day Kenny?" she asks.
"Kinda weird" you admit. "I'll tell you about it when we're in a place that's not so crowded.
"Fair enough" smiles Tina. "So here's the thing, I don't want to risk my mom seeing you when we get back to my place. She can be very unpredictable. So, for your safety you're going to have to ride in my purse. Is that ok?"
"Of course" you reply. "I understand."
Your friend gently deposits you in her purse and zips it up. You feel it gently sway back and forth as Tina starts walking, but you manage to find a spot where you don't get jostled around with her makeup, phone, and wallet. On your way to Tina's house, you call your mom and let her know that you're going over to Tina's for the afternoon. Your mom is happy you're spending time with your friend but as always, warns you to be careful. She also asks you to have Tina take you home.
After about 20 minutes, you hear Tina unlock the door to her house. Judging by the lack of noise, you assume her mom isn't home yet. You feel a slight thud as Tina sets her purse down. A sudden rush of light blinds you for a few seconds as Tina opens her purse to let you out. She gently plucks you out and sets you on a soft surface. You quickly realize you're in her bedroom. You look up and see Tina sitting crisscrossed smiling down at you.
"Well, this is my room" she says, slightly nervously.
"You have a nice room"
"Why thank you Ken." smiles Tina.
"Oh before I forget, my mom would like you to bring me home when we're done hanging out"
"Oh no problem Ken! So what should we do first?"
How do you respond?
