As if reading your discomfort, Abigail calmed down and continued sorrowfully, "I haven't had a man in my life since. And I don't have much in the way of friends because people just won't stop spreading stupid rumors about me. It's been that way since secondary school. I wish I knew why people could so cruel."
Tears started to form in Abigail's eyes, and you instinctively hug her tightly where she placed you, saying, "You're the kindest and most beautiful person I've ever met. You're a wonderful lady, and anyone who doesn't get that is an idiot!"
Abigail's finger gently caressed you as she said, "Thank you Ken for those kind words. This is why I wanted to adopt someone. I wanted a companion who wouldn't lie about me behind my back or betray me. I wanted someone I could look out for and care for and love unconditionally. I'm sorry about what you went through in your life, but I'm so glad you're here with me now, Ken."
At that moment, you were glad too. You looked up to her as she asked her next question:
