The mare upon coming downstairs looked sour but upon seeing you, her expression slowly morphed into one of the surprise and wonder. To be honest, you were also quite surprised albeit internally.

"Hello!" She greeted. "Sorry about that.. I was napping and considering it's heat season and affecting every mare around, this is my way to cope and I don't like being woken up." She let out an awkward chuckle, her ears drops in a floppy state before she shake out of it, her bright expression returned, thought there is some nervousness in it. You also noted that smell of pumpkins now being mixed with the blueberries. "Anyway, I'm Pumpkin Cake, nice to meet you, it's quite a surprise seeing the only human in the town and... upclose."
"Ahh yes.. the pleasure is all mine." You say and offered and handshake, both mare looked at the gesture a bit puzzling, you sighed a bit "..an handshake? Oh.. right, you have no hands but hooves, nevermind." Pumpkin however perked up.

She raised an hoof to meet yours, you smiled on the save and went to grasp it, noting how soft it feels, you felt the thin soft fur on your hand and fingers as the gesture was done, she blushed quite a abit while her mother giggled on the sight, when the gesture was over, she opted to look on her hoof with a bit of surprise and... a bit of amazement. The feeling of awkwardness returned as you don't know how to respond to this, luckily, her mother took initiative and coughed to call both of your attention, which also snaps out of her trance.
"I think we should get eating, I'd hate to have to cook it again if it get cold." She says, you nodded to her, Pumpkin did the same but you noTed that the smell of Pumpkins grew more intense, almost overpowering the smell of blueberries.

"Well.. I'm a mage, an plane-walking mage, to be exact. I've been recently done my training and set out to explore the multiverse, currectly, I'm trying to learn new magics and I had heard of this plane being home of the Princess of Magic, I seek to be her apprentice, if nothing else, just some books of sorcery would suffice." You added. It was true, you gave the illusion that she would accept you just right away, you could always ask for magic books instead. Pumpkin grimaced a bit while her mother looked intrigued.
"You seek Twilight? I guess that makes sense if you are trying to learn magic but dearie... eh.. You kind of appeared on the wrong time, Pinkie went with her to see the birth of her niece, last telegram she sent, was that they wont returning for at least few days more."
"Yeah... beside, you. You could always go to the Palace's library. It's public and there are some magic spells and... color me curious but you didn't said that your training was completed?" "Well yes, my training is completed but mostly on the Space and Time spells and other sorcery related, I, however need help on developing spells that are wholly unique to me and learning other magics and abilities from across the multiple planes would help me up on my task, it is sort of a tradition for plane sorcerers like myself." You didn't mentioned the whole 'last of your kind' kind of thing as its only relevant over magical reason as humans are plenty you but mages of your kind aren't, you really don't wanna add fuel to the whole 'Humans are extinct' thing that is in Equestria, frankly, you don't know what to expect if you said it, you felt the need that you shouldn't, considering mares in heat, it would add further excuses to jump up to your pants and make moves over people that aren't themselves.
