Begrudgingly you two got off the bed to start the day, even if you two wanted to the moment to last longer, the Mayor still had job to do, fortunately, it was just office job. Meanwhile, You decided to take a stroll around the town, the ponies had grown used to seeing you around.
The Ponyville river glittered in the morning light as you walked along, your destination the market square in the middle to check out what the produce vendors were selling. The Mayor's residence was in the town center not too far from Town Hall, so that's where you took your initial stroll. You saw several ponies pass close by and when you stopped to wave each one would take one whiff of the air around them, give a small smile, and then walk away.
You were quite confused on the sudden behavior, you hope you don't smell bad, you had two showers a day. Does it have to do with the rumor that involves you and the Mayor? there used to have a rumor going on but it stopped as soon you moved to the Mayor's home, it kind of confirmed being hitched with her. then came the congratulations from some ponies and such, you neither her confirmed anything to the public or the paparazzi, either way. It was that and... the rather flirtatious comment if your 'herd' were open.
But you demised them too, making yourself appear ignorant to the very word even, you know what it means but you didn't know much it entails. Anyway, you entered to the Market area, it was a hub of activity with ponies of every shape, tribe and color were around, buying and selling wares.
You looked around, selling from food, fruits, miscellaneous stuff among many other things.
The very minute you stepped into the square all eyes, customer and seller alike, were on you.
Some were lidded, a few were narrowed in suspicion, and many were filled with what you can only describe as a deep sense of longing and envy.
All this attention unnerved you a little when there wasn't that much before.
You approached the strawberry cart and saw Strawberry Sunrise there manning, (mareing?) the stand.
She quickly fluffed up her wings to make herself look presentable and pushed a hoof through her mane right before you approached. She gave you her brightest grin and gesticulated with her right wing. "Why hello there, sir. Is there any way I can interest you in some succulent, juicy strawberries? Only 5 bits a bag."
You slowly nod "...I think I take two bags, gonna bake a Strawberry Cake. Today is a... special day." You blush slightly but smile with fondness apparent on your face.
Sunrise gave you a half-lidded stare as she began scooping the strawberries into two paper bags.' Mhmm, I bet it is. So how are you enjoying your stay in Ponyville so far? I do hope that there weren't any rotten mares who tried to take advantage of you."
You shrugged. "Well, pretty good so far. If anything my stay has been peaceful if a bit... strange, I'm quite new when coming with Pony courtship but so far, there is only one Mare and she isn't rotten or taking advantage" if anything, You feel you were the one taking advantage of her, given how good she is been treating to you. You say but then decided to jump to a different topic "This might sound weird but... do I smell bad? I didn't initially notice it, but human's sense of smell isn't as developed as ponies' and before, Ponies, especially Mares, were acting like trying to get to my pants... now it's strange. some were suspicious of me, some staring with longing or envy."
Sunrise crooked a wing under her chin and leaned into it with a smug-looking grin. "Hmm, nope! I think you smell like a daisy in spring."
'Then why are they avoid ing me now?" you pressed.
"It might have to do that you have the scent of another Mare, especially the one you recently mated which is the Mayor," she explains, Making you blush, so they do know! "The suspicious might not even be aimed on you but on the Mayor, The news that you are the last human alive may have caused them to think that she is hoarding you like a precious sexual pet." You frowned deeply but... you can see why they had reached to that conclusion. "As for the longing and envy, the scent also means that you had been claimed."
Your cheeks color with a luminescent blush. "Thank you, this conversation has been most... illuminating."
Strawberry Sunrise gave you a sympathetic look and dropped a few more strawberries into your bag. "Here, take some extra, they're on the house."
You thanked her and turned around to leave and when you were a good distance away you heard her shout. "If you're ever looking to expand your herd, I'm on the market!"
You tucked the strawberries into your bag and let them be transported to your mansion, where they'll keep indefinitely.
Now, you ponder what to buy although on what she had told you were more in your mind than on the ingredients. If what she told you is a good indication, that means that maintaining the relationship hidden is not possible, then again, moving into the Mayor's home was never subtle and apparently, you had her scent all over you which was another dead giveaway, she did say she was going to tell her friends, she never wanted to maintain the secrecy.
Oh well...
Just when you were about to get near to another stand, you hear snorts and (a bit crazy) giggling, very familiar ones close nearby.
