As you look around upon the gigantic surroundings, you start to realize something. You look back upon Lola, and say:
"Is my idea, or this place is actually small?".
The woman giggles a little, and answers:
"Me impresiona que lo hayas notado en tu estado actual, pero sí, esta casa es pequeña: solamente apta para una persona."("I am impressed that you have noticed it in your current state, but yes, this house is small: only suitable for one person.")
"So, that means that you live alone?", you ask with a curious tone.
"Si, yo vivo sola aquí. Me mude a esta casa tras vender la que tenía: era demasiado grande para una sola persona para que valiera la pena. "("Yes, I live alone here. I moved into this house after selling the one I had: it was too big for one person to be worth it."), Lola answers, in a clear tone.
"Wait, what about your family?", you ask then, starting to get worried and sad with the woman.
"No, desde que mis hijas se volvieron adultas, dejaron su antiguo lugar y fueron a buscar sus propias casas. No me han visitado, aunque seguimos en contacto. Actualmente las tres están ocupadas con sus proyectos."("No, since my daughters became adults, they left their old place and went to look for their own houses. They have not visited me, although we remain in contact. Currently the three of them are busy with their projects."), Lola answers.
All the while, she walks into the living room, where she sits, and leaves you in the small table before the TV.
"So, they don't live with you. What about a husband? Did you had one?" you then ask.
In that moment, you realize that you might have step a little too far, as the happy smile of the woman fades, and her face becomes plain.
For a moment, silence ensues. You feel bad, and that you had wronged the woman. You say:
"Sorry, I might have ask..."
"No te preocupes, Dennis. Es solo que...perdí a mi esposo en un accidente. No he podido juntarme con nadie más después de él."("Don't worry, Dennis. It's just that ... I lost my husband in an accident. I haven't been able to hang out with anyone else after him."), Lola says, while sighing. Then, silence ensue again.
Then, you say:
"Was he...so good of a partner?"
Your question was personal, yet it brings once again a smile into the woman's face. Looking at you with the same gentle and caring look of before, she says:
"El mejor. Si quieres, puedo mostrártelo, y contarte más de él."("The best. If you want, I can show you, and tell you more about it.").
Shen then puts one of her hands on the table, and you hop on to it. She then brings you to one of her shoulders, at the same time she grabs a photo. What happens next is that she start to relate her life with her husband, from how they meted one another, to their marriage, and up to their final days before the accident that took his life. You listen attentively, Lola's voice remaining steady all the while.
Then, she lets go off a tear. They were both very close.
Silence ensues, but her smile remains. She looks at you with eyes giant eyes, and says:
"Esta es la primera vez que habló de esto con alguien más que mis hijas. Fue...agradable recordar los buenos tiempos."("This is the first time I've discussed this with anyone other than my daughters. It was ... nice to remember the good times.")
You nod, and then, "hug" her neck. Well, as well as you can in your current state. This act seems to be cute from the point of view of the woman, who gentle grabs you, and hugs you in the same way as before: pressing you gently against her bosom.
She then lifts you up, and says:
"Bien, está bien de hablar de mi pasado, pero ahora tengo una prioridad: ayudarte a volver a la normalidad."("Well, it's okay to talk about my past, but now I have a priority: to help you get back to normal.").
You nod: despite all of what had just happened, you had not forgotten the main reason behind your reunion with Lola. And neither had she.
She stands up, and says:
"Primero que todo, antes que nada: necesitas un baño. Y ropas limpias. No permitiré que pases el tiempo que estés pequeño oloroso y con ropas sucias."("First of all, first of all: you need a bath. And clean clothes. I won't allow you to spend time being a smelly little one with dirty clothes.")
You remember why the commentary. However, you start to think how to solve both issues. And they both seem difficult to solve. However, you're unable to voice any suggestions, as Lola enters a new room, with you in her hands.
