[Note: The plothole patching continues, just bear with me in the meantime]
"Tell me, do you know anything about anime and manga?" The clerk asked.
"Well, I did watch Dragon Ball from the beginning and up to GT, plus the recent movies... but I don't think there's any costume from there that fits my needs" Miriam replied.
"Well, not necessarily that one, but I believe there are some things that can help coming from these kinds of series. Hold on a minute please" The clerk said as she went into the manga/anime section and seemed to rummage around for something. Miriam glanced around and saw that many of the costumes there were even more revealing than the western ones.
"Here we go!" The clerk suddenly said, and came back to Miriam with what looked like a full body jumpsuit, though it was sort of pale-tan colored with purple, accented by orange stripes. It also had a pair of purple gloves with orange accents on the edge of the cuff. The suit featured a kind of "boots", actually still part of the jumpsuit, which appeared cut off at the thigh in a v-shape. The suit also had three orange diamond shaped dots on the purple top that are located under the chest area, and it also included a purple domino mask with a sort of horns on the sides.
"What's this?" Miriam asked with genuine curiosity. It had the style of a western heroine, but the clerk had gotten it from the anime/manga section.
"It's the costume for a character called Mount Lady, from a superhero series" The clerk explained "The material is also pretty high quality and it's one of the few one-size-fits-all models we sell"
'Hmm... the domino mask should cover enough of my face to protect my identity... but I'm still not entirely sold on the almost flesh-colored suit' She thought, and then she slapped her forehead 'I can't waste time being so picky with suits... Guess it's gonna be this one!'
"You know... that outfit probably suits you better than you think" The clerk said.
"Huh? Why?" Miriam raised an eyebrow.
"The character it's based on is a lady that has the ability to grow giant!" The lady chuckled and gestured at Miriam's height in contrast with her own, as she was fairly short herself. But Miriam almost choked right there and then, feeling called out.
"O-Oh! I see! Well, I like this enough... so it's gonna be this one then!"
"Very well... And don't worry, I believe you'll look stunning in it. Would you like to try it on before purchasing it?"
"You said it's one-size-fits-all, right?" Miriam asked and the clerk nodded "Then I'll be taking it, I'm in a bit of a rush"
Miriam then paid for the suit and thanked the clerk for her patience and kindness.
"By the way, I think something's gonna happen soon, like a storm, I heard something in the news so... uh, maybe you should evacuate while you still can" She then said, to which the clerk showed a little bit of surprise but thanked her for the heads-up and waved goodbye to her.
'I'd wish to say that this is something I'd take to the grave, but if I'm telling Blaise about my powers I'll probably have to explain what happened today...' She thought, feeling quite embarrassed after the whole ordeal. She got near the beach but instead of parking there, she went to a large parking lot with an underground section, just to be safe.
"Alright, this is it..." Miriam took a deep breath to fight back against her growing embarrassment. She then began taking her clothes off while still in her car and when she was down to just her underwear she began putting on the costume. The material proved to be stretchy enough not to rip and tear from her massive curves, though she struggled a little to zip it up, wishing she could've gotten your assistance with this.
She looked at herself in the mirror and saw that the suit was pretty tight on her chest and butt, but there was nothing else that could be done about it, at least it nearly covered her full body and her face should be covered up enough by the mask to protect her identity, though she wondered about the horns, they seemed a bit unfit for a supposed heroine.
'I wonder if Blaise has seen this series... If he hasn't, Cindy must have' She thought, checking her suit for the final time before heading out in a rush. This was perhaps her silliest idea ever, but it was all she got. Thankfully, there was hardly any people in the area, so she didn't have to worry so much about walking around in the costume. Once she made sure to be alone, she began concentrating on her power, focusing on the color red to grow herself.
'On second thought, I should've just picked a Green Lantern outfit...' She thought, feeling somewhat more embarrassed about the costume she ended up picking.
'If this somehow end up becoming a thing I think I might try to make my own' She sighed.
Unlike her previous attempt, she didn't stop once she hit 10 ft in height, instead she kept growing and growing until the tallest buildings around came up to her waist. She estimated that should be enough to restrain the mechanical monstrosity. Of course, her sudden appearance immediately alarmed the people that saw her, and in no time people were recording her from afar, and, as she could see some helicopters flying around, she guessed she'd made it to the news by this point, but she couldn't allow herself to be too bothered by it, instead, she carefully walked around, looking for the monster.
"Holy shit, are you seeing this?" A random passerby said, using his phone to record the massive (in more ways than one) woman that walked around the city as if looking for something.
"Wow, talk about a big woman" Another one responded, snapping some pics.
"Isn't she dressed like the lady that grows in that anime?" Another person could be hear wondering out loud.
'Where the hell is that thing? Something so big shouldn't be hard to spot' Miriam quietly huffed. Almost as if prompted, there was a large explosion to her left and there she saw it. The robotic serpentine monster was attacking what appeared to be a liquefied gas fueling station, striking the large storage tanks with its tail, making them explode violently.
'Okay, Miriam, you've got this... you've watched Ultraman since you were in kindergarten, it can't possibly be that hard' She took one more deep breath before she confronted the thing. Meanwhile, the news were going crazy, now, not only some mysterious giant monster was attacking the city, but an equally mysterious and equally enormous woman had shown up.
"I suppose you're not going to stop if I ask nicely, are you?" She said in a stern motherly tone that she hadn't used in a very long time. The robotic monster turned towards her and let out an angry-looking metallic screech.
"Well, I tried" Miriam shrugged and threw a powerful left jab, right at its face, hitting it squarely. Surprisingly, despite it being made of solid metal, it didn't hurt her hand. She then could hear cheering coming from the people that were some distance away from them, but not nearly enough. She couldn't help but smile for a moment before focusing back on her foe.
Roughly 1 hour and half earlier, back at a certain laboratory...
"Has anyone figured out yet what failed in today's experiment?" Zuleima asked with a huff after looking over at the code in a computer for the umpteenth time, having cross checked it with a long list of equations written on her personal notebook.
"No, the reaction was supposed to be much milder" A young scientist, likely an intern, said.
"Dr. Rodríguez, I hate to say this, but I believe that your last intervention may have thrown a wrench into this experiment. Any clues that there may have been about out failure have been muddled by the fact that we used the beam in a way it was never designed for" An older scientist said.
"I don't think I have to repeat myself, Dr. Hammond. If we allowed the experiment's effects to go further they may have compromised the subject's life, and that is unacceptable" Zuleima glared at the stubborn looking middle aged man.
"The value of life supersedes any gain to be had from any kind of experiment and research" She huffed. In order to avoid getting any more frustration after today's fiasco, Zuleima excused herself for a lunch break and simply ordered everyone to thoroughly check every single piece of coding employed today to locate the flaw.
As she walked, the black Cuban lady couldn't help but notice how much her large backside bounced as she walked, a fact she was always vaguely aware of, but now it had come to her attention. Seeing that she was alone and that she passed by a large window that served as a makeshift full body window, she looked at herself.
"Man, Miriam's worries might be right... these girls are getting fat!" She chuckled, squeezing her cheeks and feeling just how utterly squishy they were.
"Maybe I do need to hit the gym sometime... but I hardly get any time or energy left after work... still, something to add to my to-do list" She mumbled. Despite that, she still bought a pack of donuts and a large mocha Frappuccino to enjoy them with. She checked her phone while enjoying her early lunch. Her tablet then began beeping and, raising an eyebrow, she grabbed it an unlocked the screen.
"Anomalous vitals detected!" She got this notification over and over again, easily over 30 times before they stopped, but the screen still had a slightly unsettling continuous red blinking, along with a WARNING sign at the top of the screen. Sipping some more of her drink, she began trying to investigate it, checking the nanomachines' reports on Miriam's body. But there was nothing wrong in the various scans they performed in her body, nor did anything out of the ordinary show up in blood test that she did then.
It was only when some of the nanomachines traveled by her nerves that they detected interference from an unknown form of energy. She issued a remote command for the nanomachines to focus on analyzing her nervous signals, and more and more of that mysterious interference kept showing up. But it wasn't in even pulses, some were larger and some were much shorter. They even stopped at various points, only to flare up again when she least expected them...
'What the hell is going on, Miriam?' She thought...
