What reading too many comics does to a mother-
[Continuity Note: I just noticed I dun goofed with this storyline lmao. This route was gonna omit the events from the previous chapters, basically, where Blaise saw a giant woman on the Internet but after giving it some thought, I decided to reconnect back to those events albeit with some twists. Apologies for the plotholes, I'll try to patch 'em up as I see them.]

"So I can shrink and grow things... both living and inanimate..." Miriam quietly mumbled as she walked back into her house. It wasn't such a flashy power such as those from the superheroes she liked, which was mostly DC ones, but it wasn't entirely useless either. But thinking about superheroes got her to think some more about her own powers as well.

'I wonder if my own powers work on myself... or maybe I'm immune... let's see' she thought. She wondered if she even needed to aim her hands at herself, maybe she just needed to channel the energy and let it flow through her body, like the first time she felt it, so she closed her eyes and took a few breaths to concentrate. She figured shrinking herself was the riskier bet of the two so she thought about the color red and about infusing herself with her own power.

She couldn't see it, but she could feel something warm but not solid like a standard object, it was more like being engulfed by a warm breeze. Her body glowed with a red aura and soon it began growing. This time she felt the change and opened her eyes, looking down she could see how her line of sight kept rising as she grew. She wondered if this would lead her to a kind of Hulk situation, with her clothes bursting, but she quickly noticed that her clothes seemed to grow along with her.

'Must be because of the aura' She thought and stopped before her head hit the ceiling, which had her standing at near 10 feet tall.

"Huh... so I can grow myself after all..." She smiled.

'How ironic that I basically got a villain's powers' She thought, being well aware that the closest thing to her among the world of DC was the mighty Giganta, which was probably not the best role model for someone with that kind of power. She giggled, imagining herself using her growth to literally walk through traffic jams, but she could tell that'd easily lead into trouble.
'Better shrink myself back to normal before I break something' She thought and closed her eyes again, this time thinking about the color blue, this time feeling cool from the aura enveloping her, her body slowly shrank down until she reverted back to her original height of 6'1".

'Interesting...' Miriam noted that when she grew or shrank things back to their original size, her power always stopped by default, as if to let her know that she'd gotten the original size, and only if she insisted on using her powers it'd resume changing. She had found it slightly annoying at first but she was quick to catch on that it was a neat built-in feature to her abilities, a mistake-proof way to get things back to normal.
'Now what to do with these... It's not like I can just go out into the streets and start smacking bank robbers or terrorists or whatever' She thought with an amused giggle. She then looked up towards the stairs that led to your room.
'No matter what else I end up doing, one thing is clear, these powers must be used to protect my baby, and the rest of my family too' She thought.

She didn't want to play favorites, and treated Ariadne very fairly, but she couldn't deny that she felt an unique, very special bond with you, as in her own words "you were born of her flesh and blood", something to which Raphael would often reply with a joking annoyed tone saying "What about me? Am I just chopped liver?".

'I don't think I can, nor should I keep this a secret from him, screw clichés...' She thought and made up her mind, even if she took her time to reveal her newly-found powers to the rest of her immediate family, she almost felt the need to let you know right away. Since you were still asleep, she decided to grab some ice cream and make herself a chocolate milkshake to enjoy while watching TV and waiting for you to wake up. The reason she didn't go to her room was that since it was upstairs as well, she risked missing you, since she half guessed that you might have summer plans with your friends. And thus she waited...

For some reason, she felt like watching TV instead of jumping straight to Netflix or the other streaming services, so she did some channel surfing to find something interesting to watch, when something caught her attention. It was the local news channel, and they'd just began reporting on a mysterious, gigantic beast that emerged from the sea. It looked like some kind of metallic draconic serpent, though it also looked way ancient, as it was heavily rusted and scratched from presumably centuries of wear and tear while under the sea, but the thing moved as if it were brand new regardless. Upon looking at it again, Miriam found that despite its serpentine shape, it had limbs, so it resembled an Eastern Dragon.

"Huh, is this some kind of promotional stunt for Dragon Ball?" Miriam raised an eyebrow "Actually, that thing kinda looks like a mecha version of Manda" [A sea serpent kaiju from Godzilla's universe]

"I know this is hard to believe, but this is NOT an advertisement stunt! It's not a simulation either! Anyone near the city's coastal area must evacuate now! We've yet to get any comments from the Mayor but we assume he must be contacting the pertinent secutiry forces to deal with this menace"

"Oh geez... Are you kidding me?!" Miriam looked up as if to talk to God himself "So this is what you gave me these powers for, huh? I wasn't even allowed one friggin day for trying them?" She groaned and pinched the bridge of her nose. She knew that it'd be so easy to be selfish and do nothing, but her conscience was quick to nag her into using her gift for the greater good, or at least attempt to do so.

"Literally on the day this happens a giant monster decides to attack the city, what are the chances even?!" She angrily grumbled as she got up and began dressing, she had wanted to take some time before deciding what to use her powers for, but apparently Fate already had plans of its own. Just in case, before she left, she sent her son a text asking him to stay home. After that, she got on her car and headed for the city's coastal area.

Roughly halfway through she realized that if she simply grew to fight that thing it'd be insanely quickly to find her identity out, someone was bound to film the whole thing and someone was also bound to realize that it was her.
'Well, that's why they wear costumes anyway...' She thought with a chuckle 'Sorry Peter Parker but right now I ain't got no time to make my own outfit'

She used her phone to find the nearest costume store, and fortunately there were a bunch of them along the way, as a large convention center, often used for anime & comic conventions was nearby. She headed towards the first she found and once she parked her car, she got off and walked in.

"Good morning!" A kind, middle aged lady greeted her, by the look of her clothes she was likely a store clerk "How may I help you today?"

"Morning!" Miriam then blushed a little, realizing that she was a woman close to her 40's and had just entered a costume store to buy a costume for herself.
'Screw that! This is the 21st century, if I can't buy a friggin hero outfit for myself then this is NOT a free country' She thought with a quiet huff.
"Oh... well... Umm, I'm looking for some superheroine outfit" She said in a rather meek tone.

"I see. I guess it must be for your daughter... did she tell you what kind of costume she wanted?" The lady asked and it was at this point that she realized she had inadvertently checkmated herself. But it wasn't like she could use Ariadne as an excuse, it'd be too obvious. The only way would be to come clean, at her dignity's expense.

"Actually... uh... I'm looking for a costume for myself..." Miriam said, blushing harder than before.

"...oh..." If the lady was surprised, she hid it surprisingly well, as her reaction was pretty flat "In that case, would you like some help with picking out a costume? What's the party's theme?"

"Uhh... well, you see, I do know a little bit about superheroes myself, but... I'm probably not quite caught up to these times" Miriam laughed nervously, scratching the back of her head "I knew stuff from up until the late 90's or early 2000's but I'm not so sure about what's good these days" She chuckled, feeling a bit more at ease. However, she saw a glint in the clerk's eye.

"Oh, I see! A fellow old school connoisseur! Pleased to meet you, ma'am" The lady offered her hand for a handshake, which Miriam took, feeling oddly comforted in finding a kindred soul despite the circumstances.

"So, what strikes your fancy?" She said, leading Miriam into the superheroines' section "The old classics are still good, BatGirl, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Supergirl..." She said as she began showing her various costumes. They looked good in a way, but she found them all rather revealing, and Harley's seemed like a poor choice if she meant to try to be an actual heroine.

"Well, they look good, but I'm not so sure... uh, some of these might reveal a little much for my tastes" Miriam said "And I'd rather stick to the heroine theme, so, no villains this time please"

"Gotcha..." The clerk nodded "Well, I'll be honest, it's gonna be a bit hard to find a suit that can accomodate such a voluptuous lady" She said without missing a beat. Miriam blushed, feeling a little embarrassed after remembering that the one remaining side effect from the experiment was her enlarged curves.

"Don't worry, I believe we have a few outfits that can fit you and be rather conservative as you wish" The clerk said...
