Bipolarized Repositioning Across Planes (of Time)

[Note: Random Anon here, sorry, I kinda hijacked the chapter to add my own branching paths, but the stuff Reborner originally wrote will be added a bit farther down the line. For further clarification, the 2 Reader's choices can opt to have a whole different scene, ignoring this chapter, but the previous one can't be ignored. As for choice 3, I admit the wording was a bit vague, but just to straighten things, that's the young Raphael route, without Blaise.]

Meanwhile, at an undisclosed location... Two figures stood in a dark room, with only the faint light from a computer screen barely illuminating them enough to discern their form. Two feminine silhouettes, wearing what looked like labcoats, one of them standing behind the other, who sat at the computer and quickly typed various lines of an unknown code.

"I know this test just got greenlit, but did you really have to rush things to have it done right away? We haven't even tested the equipment..." The typing one said with an exhausted huff

"And what do you think this is? It's a test! A real test! No time to waste with small stuff when we can move onto the big leagues right off the bat" The other one replied

"I mean, if this thing ever works, time will be a non-issue from now on" The typing one quietly chuckled

"Good one! But it's true, the possibilities are endless!" The standing one laughed more heartily
"So... do we have any available test subjects? It's gonna be a while before we get a new batch" She asked

"You're in luck, we almost didn't make it, we only had one left, and the A.R.X test was just about to begin, I barely managed to override its activation to get it back to standby mode"

"Phew! Amazing job as always!" The standing one patted the other's shoulder and sipped some coffee from a mug in her other hand

"You know, this is going to be one of the wildest tests ever... are you sure you want to proceed?"

"Yes, of course! I didn't get all this bullshit paperwork signed and approved NOT to do the greatest test ever! This will get me Nobels on so many categories!" The standing one laughed in a way more reminiscent of a mad scientist than a proper researcher.

"Uhhh... Sure, as long as we can cover up the less-than-quite-legal methods it took to have all this research done, you know?" The other one replied with noticeable snark in her voice

"Hmph! That's what the Legal Team is paid for, they have to do their arcane word-weaving and dancing around technicalities so that we the real pros can do real science!" The other one chuckled and drank more coffee as she sipped some more coffee

"Just a reminer that this kind of, erm, 'travel', is still somewhat linked to the subject's own past, or even things from the past that are related to how they came into being, so, don't expect anything too fancy..."

"Please, the initial trip is just the beginning, if we can pull that off, the sky will be the limit. And believe me, I have PLENTY of things to get tested..."

With that, the sitting one typed one long, last command and hit "Enter" on her keyboard. The following could be seen on the computer's screen.

[Subject BLXY-0091's device connected...]
[Currently engaging A.R.X. Beta Test]

[Override input command entry detected...]
[Halt Beta Test A.R.X.? Y/N]
[...]

[Beta Test A.R.X. halted]
[Overriding device...]

[Disabling A.R.X. Beta Test...]
[...]
[...]
[...]

[A.R.X. Beta Test disabled]
[Awaiting new command...]
[New command accepted...]
[...]

[New command: Engaging B.R.A.P. Test]

Upon reading that last line, the typing one badly suppressed a giggle

"Huh? What's so funny?" Asked the standing one, sipping some more coffee

"Nothing really... just remembered something funny..." She dismissively replied as she typed some more commands.

[Proceeding with Temporal Shift protocol]
[Select target period (in years)]
[22]

[Reversed Temporal Shifting protocol selected. Confirm? Y/N]
[Loading...]
[...]
[...]

[All protocols, routines and subroutines loaded. Engaging in 30 seconds...]

"There we go" The standing one said, sounding pleased

"I really hope you know what we're doing..." The other one sighed

"We'll play it by ear from here, as long as all monitoring systems work, we'll see... this is beyond anything anyone has ever done so far! We're rewriting Physics here..." The standing one said, rather excitedly...

"There we go" The standing one said, sounding pleased

"I really hope you know what we're doing..." The other one sighed

"To be honest, I don't, this will be even more challenging than if we had chosen the Reversed Temporal Shifting instead, but the data we'll gather will be invaluable"

"If we don't end up tearing the very fabric of space and time..."

"Shush. This will be like the Wild West, but for science!"

The typing one sighed as the two watched the screen...

============================================================================ ========================

"Before that, actually, I have something else in mind" The standing one said as she pulled out an USB drive out of her labcoat's pocket.

"What's that?"

"It's a new series of commands and routines I want you to load instead of whatever is on the subject's device right now"

"I don't think it's an officially approved thing..." The sitting one said with evident suspicion in her voice

"Well, it wasn't approved... until right now! That idiot board of directors will be happy to sign whatever if you tell them whatever, and make the documents too long and complicated to read" The standing one chuckled as she handed the drive over to her colleague, who reluctantly took it and plugged it in.

She then began to type, taking over the device she was currently working with and overriding all control, disabling and deleting all the protocols and subroutines that had been already been loaded onto it, effectively erasing the data related to the A.R.X test in it.

"May I ask what this is?" The typing one asked, still typing confirmations for all the premade commands she was now loading onto the device.

"Let's say it's a modified version of what I got approved, but the focus has changed..."

"How?"

"As this test was conceived, we're intended to shift one subject across temporal planes..."

"But?"

"I managed to do away with the need of a subject, all we need is one device to activate this, and you'll see..."

The typing one stopped in shock.

"W-Wait... How? Is that even possible?"

"It's taken me a whole year of dedicating all my spare time into doing additional research of my own, but yes, I found a way, and it can be done, but we need to do the actual testing to see if everything works as perfectly in practice as it's been laid out on paper. This will be far bigger than the test they had in mind. This will make us masters of time itself...!"

"If it works..."

"If it works, that is, but I'm pretty confident it will... So, have you finished loading everything up?"

"Just a few more commands... aaand... there we go..."

On the screen, they could see that Blaise's phone began to seemingly gather energy, the air around him looked distorted, there were lightning-like bolts that flashed around and the air spun around his unconscious body, more specifically, around the phone, still held in his hand, as he was knocked out cold by the initial shock it delivered.

"If this ever succeeds... then what?" The sitting one asked

"We'll only know until we see that it worked..."
