Not brave enough for this world?
"I mean... they used to be a good thing" Jordana said "The movement was founded by micros who were fighting for true equality"

"But something happened?" You said, getting a bad feeling about it.

"Yeah" Jordana replied "15 years ago, there was this group of college women that seemingly were into the movement too... A student called Sandra Taylor was the one who spearheaded this thing, you could say it was like a second wave to the MiRA"

"Never in my life I imagined I'd be learning history from you" You said with genuine surprise and a touch of amazement but also chuckling since Jordana didn't strike you as someone who cared much about this sort of stuff.

"S-Shut up!" She blushed a little and pouted "I learned about these things because it's important! Now, where was I... Oh, right! Sandra Taylor transformed this movement, it was primarily led by micros and aimed at micros, obviously, with a few normal sized people supporting them, but Sandra's charisma began to attract more and more young women to the movement"

"So far so good?" You raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, that's what everyone thinks, but here's the catch: Sandra Taylor has been transforming the movement" Jordana explained.
"It didn't help that the major she was studying was Social Sciences so her activism meshed right into her academic stuff" She sighed before continuing "And as a result, she's been into politics since college and she's turned this social justice movement into an actual political party for herself"

"Okay, I can see where this is going" You facepalmed.

"Her ideas are also way more radical than what the original leaders of the movement ever intended" She said.
"I'm not sure if she's truly evil, you know... she might be well intentioned but after years of being surrounded by nothing but yes-people I suppose she'd kinda lost her way"

"You said she was more radical... How, exactly?" You asked a bit fearfully. You hadn't thought about it until now but, finding yourself in a strange, unknown world, you hadn't stopped to consider that its society and ongoing laws would ever be a concern to you.

"Well, you see, the original MiRA was all about ensuring equality between micros and normal sized people, accounting for the physical differences, trying to have some sorts of considerations to prevent abuse and whatnot, but still respecting everyone's freedoms" Jordana said.
"Sandra Taylor has a way more overbearing approach, she wants to protect micros, or so she says, but the ways she intends to do are... ugh... this is hard to say... her 'protectionist' agenda involves restricting micros' freedoms, she's more or less aiming to treat you as something between disabled, children or pets"

"Yikes!" You and Jordana both visibly cringed, and now you began to understand why she may have been concerned.

"What's this lady up to these days then?" You hesitantly asked, somewhat afraid to know the answer.

"Long story short, her movement/political party has been steadily gaining power and popular support..." Jordana said, also hesitantly.

"I don't like the way you said that" You said, getting visibly more nervous.

"She was elected President last year, and officially took power starting this year" Jordana said, giving you a sympathetic look.

"How bad is this?"

"For you, very. She's also got widespread support from the legislative chambers though not the courts... yet" Jordana replied, but then saw how you were shaking in fear and very gently pressed you into her thigh in an attempt at comforting you "Sorry, but it's the truth" She said as she pulled her finger away from you.

"Let me guess, she's already enacting laws that will be oppressive to micros" You said. For once you appreciated that you watched so many movies and series with your family and friends, you'd started to recognize certain patterns.

"Yup. There's even rumors that she wants to sort of legalize turning micros from citizens to property, but for now there's enough opposition to prevent that from happening, but who knows for how long" Jordana said.

"How bad is the damage she's done already?" You asked.

"It's the main reason I'm here" Jordana sighed again "Remember how I told you she's treating micros like a mix of disabled, children and pets?"

"Yup"

"She's been enacting some laws that say that micros are to be protected at all costs and yadda yadda, but the real catch is that these new laws are serving as anchors to enact further ones that are starting to attack your individual freedoms. For starters, here's this" She then showed you her phone, which to you was like the largest cinema screen ever. You saw that she was showing you a page that seemed to be an official government site and it described a new law.

Jordana tapped an icon that looked like a speaker so that the phone would read it out loud to you since the letters were too big for you to read at a reasonable speed. It described a law that was called "The Micros' Advanced Protection Act" and in it, the legal status of micros was defined to be as "Special citizens" that required further legal protections and provisions. But most worryingly, it dictated that any and all micros needed to have a legal guardian or caretaker. Micros were no longer allowed to lead single or independent lives, citing concerns about capture and abuse.

It further went on to specify that micros were to be under their primary family's care until legally reaching adulthood, which varied a little from state to state but it started at the earliest at 18 years old, at which point the micro was required by law to get another legal guardian, preferably a wife, but the law allowed for some provisions beyond that, allowing hired caretakers or willing friends or relatives to take care of the micro for the rest of their natural lifespan, however, this prohibited the micros' mothers or relatives older than them from opting in to that mode.

Failure to be under someone's legal protection after a set deadline following the birthday that marked the start of the micro's adulthood, which varied from state to state from a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 2 years would get the micro captured by the newly formed Micros' Protection Center, a government agency supposed to guarantee the protection and well-being of all micros. Their locations would serve as a place for all micros to register and to keep any micros that lack a legal guardian, basically putting them up for "adoption" in rather vague terms. There was also mentions of this agency serving as medical facilities for micros and to perform further research though it did not specify exactly what. After the voice-to-text stopped, you gulped hard and looked up at Jordana's face.

"Okay, I think I have a vague idea on what's happening here" You said, more nervously than before.

"Glad that you get it... But just for the sake of setting things straight... yeah, I came here because you need a new guardian since your mom can't legally fulfill the role anymore, and the deadline's ending soon" She said, and even though she'd been calm and gentle so far, hearing this from her made you shudder.

"Wait a minute!" You said with widened eyes "I thought you were against making micros pets or slaves!"

"I am" Jordana said in a surprisingly solemn tone, but this only confused you more. Somehow seeing that in your face, she chuckled lightly and gave you a cheeky half-smile.
"I see you still can't figure everything out" She said.

"Well, I never said I was very smart" You scratched your head "Besides I'm just confused at this point. What are you trying to do then?"

Rather than answering directly, Jordana gently scooped you up in her fingernail and raised you to her face's level, to be more accurate, her eyes'. You'd forgotten that just like Lillian, they were a beautiful green, though unlike Lillian's emerald, Jordana's had a faint bluish hue instead. Her gaze seemed to pierce your very soul, but it was not the cold look of a bully, her look was warm in a way, it seemed to project compassion, or perhaps something else, you couldn't tell for sure.

"This is where we get to the main point" She said softly "I came here to take you..."

"Take me?!" Your heart skipped a beat and you jumped slightly from sheer surprise, but this only elicited a giggle from the colossal college girl.

What could she possibly mean?
