"Fine, 'Toxic Lily'. What do you want?" You asked in the most deadpan unamused tone you could manage to pull off, however, you were already checking your surroundings, anticipating things were going to get ugly. She had you against the locker, but at least it seemed her cronies weren't around, you silently cursed at the fact that she had to get you when you were alone, but after a bit of thought, you realized that was probably intentional on her part
"Now we're talking" She said, sounding pleased by your apparent obedience
"Just business, you know?" She said as she pulled a black metallic nail file, which she used to casually file her fingernails as she spoke
"Sure, bullying people is a serious job" You replied with very obvious sarcasm
"Glad you understand" She smiled
"Welp, these lockers are too small to shove people into and this early in the morning trashcans are empty, so what is it gonna be?" You asked as you set your backpack on the floor, a risky move, but you'd rather free your hands in case this got physical, even though the deck was heavily stacked against you and you couldn't do much in the way of self defense
"Oh, please. Do you think that's all I've got in my repertoire? Professionals have standards" She said with an evil chuckle, looking at you as she kept on filing her nails, which coming to think of it, was a bit odd, you'd think she'd want them longer and sharp to hurt people better
"Then could you let me know what you've got in store today?"
"Sure!" She smiled and stopped filing her nails, putting the nail file back in her pocket before pulling her cellphone out.
"The first things on my schedule are to get lunch money and to let out my morning gas on some loser's face" She said, surprising you a little since it seemed that she had such an agenda for real, but then again, it might just be an elaborate addition to her act. She turned its screen off and swiftly shoved the phone back into her pocket
"So, how about we kill two birds with one stone? Give me your lunch money and I'll fart on your face... for a bit..." Her laughter was evil, actually evil, and the look she gave you was that of a hungry predator
"I think you got that threat wrong" You pointed out but she smiled and shook her head
"That was no threat. I'm merely stating what's going to happen"
"I'm not giving you my lunch money. Besides, even if I did it wouldn't be worth it if you're just gonna do that anyway" You said, taking another quick glance at your surroundings, you knew she didn't fight fair, and would often sic her cronies on her targets when things got ugly, but thankfully they weren't around
"I think you don't understand your situation here" She said as she grabbed your face with one of her hands. It felt somewhat like sandpaper, though you weren't sure if the calluses came from playing an instrument or from fighting, or whatever else.
"You're in no position to refuse" She whispered
"That sounds like you're gonna pull a switchblade on me or something. Is that what you've stooped down to? Mugging people?" You replied, trying your best at keeping a straight face even though she was getting on your nerves already, and definitely disliked how she disrespected your personal space
"Please! Knives are for cowards. I don't need any knives to bend others to my will" Toxic Lily said with an ominous chuckle as she let go of your face, but not before tauntingly patting it as if she were slapping you.
"We can do this the easy way or the hard way" She shrugged
"And to be honest... I think I'd like you to go for the hard one. This morning looks pretty dull" She added with a smug smirk
"Not gonna play your game, Toxic Lily" You growled and turned away from her to secure your locker
"Are you sure about turning your back to your enemy?" She taunted and, sensing danger, you sidestepped as she punched your locker with noticeable strength, enough to make a loud echoing noise, but not quite enough to dent it
"Good. Good. Now you've learned your lesson..." She laughed. The students around you were startled by the noise, and noticed the scene she was just making, but everyone was too terrified of here to object or intervene
"Still not gonna play along with your bullshit" You replied, but knew better than to try your chances and turn your back on her again, you slowly walked backwards, keeping her in your eyesight. Then, it hit you, the reason you were standing around in here, Jen's and Lillian's backpacks
'Dammit! Did she notice?' You thought, knowing that if you glanced you might tip her off, as she was intently looking you in the eye. It didn't seem like she noticed, so you allowed yourself to relax
"Hmm? Why did you suddenly relax? Think you're off the hook?" Toxic Lily smirked as she menacingly walked towards you, though she had lost her previous advantage of having you against a wall, now you were in the more open space of the hallway, which wasn't exactly a lot, but at least you wouldn't easily let yourself get cornered like this again
With no warning, she lunged at you and your eyes widened, you knew she was reckless, but to openly attack you in the middle of the hall with tens of students around had to be a new record. Had this school's rules gone to hell? That seemed unlikely with how strict Arianna was
'Man, this might be the only time in my life I wish she'd appear' You thought. You chuckled internally, realizing that that was like wishing for Godzilla in the middle of a full-on alien invasion. But it was better than nothing
Toxic Lily threw a punch that nearly grazed your face, but you barely managed to dodge it and, seeing her feet and legs, you managed to deduce she'd go for a second strike, which you barely dodged as well, dashing backwards to get some more distance between you and her, that had been a close call. The displaced wind from when she punched gave you chills, and as you were now solely focused on her, you failed to realize that the students around you were actually impressed to see you dodge three attacks of hers in a row
You were now next to Jen's and Lillian's backpacks and she was a decent distance away from them and you. One possibility was to grab them and book it out of there, but you couldn't exactly guarantee that she wouldn't run after you and catch you, especially with you being burdened by three backpacks yourself. Another option was to keep stalling for time, since you knew for a fact that Jen and Lillian were going to come back, and those two were the only ones who could stop her. But how long would that take? Besides, a part of you felt lame for relying on your friends for protection, maybe you should fight some of your own battles... though fighting this one was highly unadvisable
"Hmph. You truly are nothing but a predictable little lapdog, Santos..." Toxic Lily said, approaching you in a much more seemingly calm manner, but your instincts told you she was just as threatening as ever
"I see why your 'owners' left you alone..." She laughed "But, you know? Chihuahuas make for very poor watchdogs"
"No idea what you're talking about" You replied with a straight face while walking backwards, away and around her, trying to maximize the distance between the two of you
"Really? I can tell you haven't moved all that far away from here... if you truly wanted to avoid fighting me you could've booked it... but no, you're staying... pretty close to a pair of certain things..." She said with a twisted smile as she looked in the backpacks' direction. Your eyes widened, and when she saw that, she laughed more loudly
"Gotcha! I knew it!" She said, but her laugh was rather brief, and she quickly returned to a more serious mood.
"I don't even hate you... you're one of the few people I actually feel pity for..." She shrugged
You knew she was likely bullshitting you, but you decided to figuratively bite, since that could aid in the 'stalling for time' plan, or at least buy you enough time to think of something else
"I don't think I'm that much of a loser to inspire your pity. Granted, I'm not the most popular guy around here, but who cares?" You shrugged, gauging her reaction
"The fact that you don't even see it kind of makes me sad... but also makes me wanna beat you to see if I can shake some of your braincells awake"
"See what?" You raised an eyebrow. Toxic Lily stopped for a moment, closed her eyes and took a deep breath
"Those two have kept you on a tight leash for too long" She said "You don't even know what being unchained is like..."
You found it strange that she cared about such a thing, but also, what she said came completely out of the blue to you, you had never thought of your friendship with Jen and Lillian in that way. You shook your head
'Why am I even paying attention to what she says?' You thought with a quiet annoyed groan
"They even left you here to watch their stuff while they went to do whatever..." She shrugged
"And here you are, risking a confrontation with the worst bully in the entire school because you can't leave... that's sad, honestly" She said with a faint smirk, a taunting one. She was trying to provoke you, but you knew it wouldn't be a good idea, and even if you managed to beat her, it'd look extremely bad with you being a guy, and you could even risk getting expelled. And that was assuming you could defeat her, you knew she was insanely strong
"Welp. Enough talk. Need to get that lunch money..." She said, walking towards you again, and you heard her stomach grumble
"And to let that out" She added with a seemingly well practiced evil laughter. She lunged at you again, and when you dodged her charge, you realized the lockers were behind you
'Crap!' You thought as you saw her swiftly turn and shoulder tackle you into them with great force...
"Now we're talking" She said, sounding pleased by your apparent obedience
"Just business, you know?" She said as she pulled a black metallic nail file, which she used to casually file her fingernails as she spoke
