Alice pulled out a small, round cup and opened it, tilting it so that its contents fell onto her other hand, revealing it to be 2 fancy-looking black dice. Given what you've seen so far, it must be some other magical implement to summon more mystical servants. She was about to toss those two dice but then she stopped and looked at you.
"Hey, Blaise" She surprised you with the familiarity she addressed you with, you had taken her to be someone more reserved and possibly shy "Can you roll these for me?" She said as she handed over the dice to you. They felt very cold, much colder than they should be... or maybe it was something else? There was something unnatural about these things but then again, this was a literal witch. Still, you opted not to question things too much and simply nodded.
"Sure!" You closed your hand and shook the dice several times before tossing them somewhat carefully to the ground. Only at that moment you wondered what you were supposed to roll in the first place as she didn't tell. You looked again at the dice and noticed that you rolled 1 on both.
"Goddamit, my luck still sucks" You facepalmed and groaned.
"Not this time, this was good" Alice said with a smile as she walked a few steps to stand next to you "You see, I only ever roll sixes"
"Huh?" You raised an eyebrow but then the dice glowed with a blinding light and when that subsided, you saw a pair of twin boys. They couldn't be older than 14 by how they looked. They had messy black hair and an eye covered by a white eyepatch, for one of them it was the right one and the left for the other. Their uncovered eyes were yellow and black respectively, they both had rather pale skin like Alice's and were wearing very fancy suits minus the jacket.
Their outfits resembled very much those of a butler in tales that took place in older times and another thing you noticed was that they wore long gloves that reached all the way to the elbow. They wore a bow tie each, red and blue respectively. Their eyepatches had the words "Dee" and "Dum" written clearly. So far they looked perfectly normal people but then you realized that these two were more of Alice's summons and as if on cue, the two smiled, revealing razor-sharp, shark-like teeth. You couldn't help but shudder at the sight, specially since these two were looking you in the eye.
"Oh? A stranger summoned us" Dee spoke first.
"A stranger? Who could he possibly be?" Dum continued.
"Should we eat him?" Dee said.
"I wonder what he tastes like" Dum chuckled sinisterly.
"What..." You said in more disbelief than fear "I'm not even the enemy"
"Tweedle" Alice spoke calmly but her voice carried a not so subtle sternness to it.
"Finally, I get to see you not as pigs" She sighed in evident frustration "The enemy is over there" She pointed in the direction of the massive brawl Itzpapálotl was in, fighting off the army of sentient plants, Thames and Flat Snark at the same time, who kept firing spears of moonlight whenever there was an opening. Diddle diddle was assisting the fighting effort as well with more giant plates, knives and forks that tried to stab, pin or otherwise distract the wrathful goddess.
"Ooh! A butterfly!" Dum giggled.
"Does she taste of butter?" Dee wondered out loud.
"Can we eat her?" The two spoke in a creepy, ominous unison.
"If you can, sure, go ahead and try" Alice nonchalantly shrugged and that was all it took for the two to rush like hyperactive children towards the raging battle. She then glanced at you and saw that you'd been left very tense.
"They didn't mean it" She said, trying to soothe you "They have a twisted sense of humor... which I don't entirely disagree with"
"That... that's nice, I guess" You laughed nervously.
"I understand a bit better now. The unknown can be scary" She sighed again.
"I actually watched pretty much the whole thing, I could tell you're not used to Magecraft or to see the supernatural"
"Oh... Wait, what?"You blinked twice in surprise at that statement.
"You did fight admirably though. I suppose some deity must've whispered things into your ear for you to pull off that lightning spell with no training whatsoever" Alice continued and glanced at the machete that lied on the ground nearby.
"A family heirloom from long ago, possessing fantastical power only befitting of a long bygone era... In some fundamental ways it's not that different from my Ploys"
The conversation was cut short by more violent bursts of flames as several sentient trees got burned to a crisp. Thames landed several good hits but then had one of his hands blown off by more fireballs from Itzpapálotl, who then flapped her wings and created a powerful gust of wind that pushed everyone except the stone troll away from her. Obsidian knives sprouted from the edges of both wings and when she flapped them a second times she also flung them away, the lethally sharp projectiles sliced through almost everything in their path like butter but also shattered if their impact was at the wrong angle.
One of these knives was headed in your and Alice's direction and, acting entirely on reflex you wrapped one of your arms around her waist, pulled her closer towards you and threw yourselves down onto the ground. You were the only one who actually hit the ground as you made sure to hold her tight against your body. The hit sent several electrical surges up your spine but you remained silent. One thing you noticed was that for her small stature, Alice was heavier than you expected. She might weigh almost as much as Jen, who'd be quite a lot taller than she is.
Mere fractions of a second later the obsidian knife flew past you finally sighed in relief and only now the full extent of the realization of what you had just done came back like a bucket of ice cold water. Alice's black eyes were staring intently into yours with such an intensity that you flinched and immediately let go of her, missing the faint blush that adorned her otherwise porcelain-like face.
"I swear I was only thinking of avoiding that knife" You said, feeling quite awkward.
"I have shields to protect me" Alice said, looking away in embarrassment, however she looked back at you "You would've been faster if you only wanted to save yourself. You risked that knife piercing your back" She noticed your confused, awkward look and smirked, booping you on the nose with the tip of her index finger.
"That was quite telling. You've got a good heart"
At this moment you fully realized that you still had Alice on top of you and she seemed to have caught on as well. She giggled quietly and stood up, offering you a hand o help you up and when you took it, she pulled you with more strength than someone her size should have.
"You're still hurt, so please don't go hitting your body more. Those chocolates were only like basic first aid, their healing won't hold up if you don't rest" She admonished you though she didn't seem to be too bothered by what happened.
"Just stand behind me for safety from now on" She said and you hesitated for a moment but ended up obeying.
A bright flash of reddish light then got your attention and hers as well. Itzpapálotl flew higher into the air and was engulfed by crimson flames but only for a moment, they rapidly subsided and revealed that her appearance had changed. From a dark skinned woman with sharp claws and giant butterfly-like wings to a more monstrous form like that of the Tzitzimimeh themselves, her own face was now a bare skeleton though her eyes still glowed red from within the bony sockets. Her attire looked more war-like, with armored elbow and shin guards. Her hair itself seemed to be made of raging flames now and her wings were made of hundreds of obsidian knives, with more of them lining their edges.
Itzpapálotl herself was now wielding a long macáhuitl, the sword used by the Aztecs and Mayans, a wooden weapon with several obsidian blades embedded onto the sides. She moved a lot faster now and with a few swings she cut down tens of the sentient plants that rushed her, shooting flames from her other hand to char the others. Tweedle Dee and Dum jumped her and bit down on her shoulders just as two giant forks tried to impale her, stopped by her obsidian wings.
Thames then punched her with presumably all of its might but she stopped the giant stone fist with her bare hand. Higher above in the sky Flat Snark fired a volley of moonlight spears that all shattered as they hit her wings, failing to pierce her like last time.
"Crap, we might be in trouble" Alice said with clenched teeth. She still had one more ace up her sleeve but it was a very dangerous one, she would rather not have to resort to it in this situation but she was running out of options.
"Hey, she tastes rotten!" Dum complained.
"Doesn't taste of butter at all" Dee added. The twins kept biting hard on the goddess' shoulders still. In response to this, Itzpapálotl let out an inhuman scream while emitting a massively powerful pulse of energy in the form of a barely visible shockwave that blasted the tweedle twins right off her body and was even powerful enough to knock the mighty Thames Troll down.
The shockwave was too fast for either you or Alice to react and were hit head on. She slammed onto your body and the sheer heft on her behind became more apparent as you felt like you got hit with a wrecking ball, a rather soft and doughy one but still, the impact knocked the wind out of your lungs. In spite of these circumstances, you tried to hold Alice to protect her while falling down but you miscalculated things and before you knew it, you ended up feeling smothered with a notoriously large weight bearing down on your face.
This was an all too familiar feeling and you weren't proud of having this knowledge but the reality was simply cold and hard, unlike the object squishing into your face. You were under Alice's big behind. Maybe you should try to pretend to pass out? But maybe she'd be offended if you acted like her weight knocked you out...
In the mean time, just as Itzpapálotl was about to fly towards the two of you to finish you off, a barrage of blue, glowing energy blasts rained upon her and their small explosions were actually enough to hurt her.
"Looks like fables and fairytales alone can't beat a goddess from ancient myths" Spoke a girl that was a bit taller than Alice but still rather short. She had long, straight brown hair with a subtle redness to it and had beautiful blue eyes that only gave more intensity to her gaze.
"Aoko" Said a slightly stunned Alice who then sighed and shook her head. She didn't think that this so-called goddess was enough of a deal to warrant the two of them fighting her, plus, she was enjoying letting her Ploys at her but at this point it was clear that they couldn't entirely handle her. Maybe Flat Snark if given enough time.
"Looks like all we need to do is smash her to bits, excellent! No elaborate defenses and countermeasures" Aoko smirked as she cracked her knuckles and aimed her hand at Iztpapálotl once more, firing a volley of blue mana bullets that each knocked the goddess back a little. She only seemed lightly charred by the explosions though.,,
