"It's so you can learn that excesses are bad..." she replied sternly
"Come again?" You reply confused
"I told you about Lillian... She's too big... too fat... too heavy... but you like that kind of huge, gross body, don't you?" She said.
You were actually annoyed and angered by her insults towards your best friend, but you knew better than to defy someone several thousand times larger than you without a plan
"So, I'm going to let you learn first-hand why it's a terrible idea to be with her and people like her..." She said, and you could feel the blood in your body heating up
"That disgusting fat you adore is going to crush you flat..." She added with a sinister glint in her eye
"The pot calling the kettle black..." You finally reply, and she blinked twice in surprise
"Excuse me?!" Celeste growled
"You keep on calling her fat, yet it's you who fights against the weighing machine!" You retort, and she's left speechless for a moment, she had never expected that kind of comeback from you, but you just had about had it with her arrogance and disdain for your friends.
"That's because she's a whale, and doesn't care at all!" She yells after a few seconds
"You know that she's actually one of the top students in PE, right? While you absolutely suck at anything remotely athletic..." You spat venomously, one of the few times you really didn't hold back on her.
"If you really wonder why you keep getting 'fat' numbers on the weighing machine, all you have to do is turn around and look down..." You finished off with that, your heart pounding out of sheer rage. You definitely didn't take kindly to anyone insulting your friends or family. You heard Celeste struggle to say something, but her voice kept breaking up. She looked away, but you still saw a tear slide all the way down from her cheeks. For a moment, you hesitate, and wonder if perhaps you went too far, but you were still deeply angered by what she said. She wiped her tears and took a few deep breaths to regain some of her composure. Then she looked at you with an unprecedented fury in her eyes.
"That's it!" She almost roared at you
"You know, I was going to go easy on you and leave you where she'd squash you for a bit before you could get away..." she muttered, her quiet tone became increasingly chilling with each word.
"But not anymore... You like her so much that you're willing to defend her like that?! Fine! Let's see who can defend you from her..." She said, and gave you a dark smile. She brought you closer to her lips next
"You love her big, fat ass so much, don't you?" she asked rhetorically
"Well then, let's see how much you like it at your size!" She said with more venom in her voice than you knew she was capable of, but then she tapped her chin in thought and laughed sinisterly.
"She really does fart a lot, doesn't she? I wonder if you'll be able to survive those atom bombs when you're the size of a speck..." She said, and you shuddered despite your anger, she truly got you there, but despite that, you weren't going to back down and beg for mercy. Even if what came next was borderline a death sentence, you'd still give it your all and either make it out or die trying, but either way, you'd go on with a clean conscience, no matter what
"Do your worst!" You shouted
"With pleasure..." Celeste replied as she put you on her palm and closed her fist over you. At least you knew your destination, and if you somehow indeed managed to make it out of there and got Lillian's help, Celeste would be screwed. There was no way this bratty scrawny girl with a fat butt would be any match for your behemoth of a best friend. And you knew Lillian has been wanting to beat her up for a long time, the only thing keeping her from doing it was the fact that you considered her family. It would be the riskiest bet you'd ever make in your life, but it was preferable to living the rest of your days as your perverted cousin's toy.
"I knew you weren't nice by any means of the word... but that's something else... you're pretty messed up in the head..."
Another voice said, sounding distinctly feminine, lightly echoing around the empty gym. A hint of anger could easily be detected in it.
"Huh?!" Celeste got startled, she was sure she was alone with Blaise when she shrank him.
'Did someone follow us? How much did they hear? How much did they see?' Her brain was quickly going into panic mode.
Footsteps were heard, they carried a hint of firmness in the way it sounded every time the mysterious woman's feet hit the floor, and with the gym's dark and empty atmosphere, it only became more ominous for Celeste, who probably could've run away, but her fear pretty much glued her feet to the ground, her legs simply refused to move. Besides, even she was aware the effort would've been futile if this were one of the more athletic girls at school, there was no way she'd be able to outrun them even with a good head-start. But given the darkness around them and the faint echoing, she wasn't even sure who she was, or what she exactly meant. If she was only caught in her rant, it'd be an awkward time at worst, but if she was caught shrinking Blaise... she could foresee it would end up badly...
The footsteps gradually sounded louder, indicating she was getting closer, and Celeste's blood suddenly chilled when she saw a feminine silhouette, somehow hoping that what she heard before wasn't directed at her, as unlikely as that could've been. As annoyed and insulted as she was by her cousin's remarks, she knew some of it was true, namely that she sucked at physical activities. There was little to no chance she'd be able to win a violent confrontation, so all she had was her brains (which, unfortunately, weren't all that bright nor sharp in the first place).
Her hands and legs shook, and she felt like she was already losing strength, as if her body was already determining that the safest bet would be to play possum. But at the same time, that growing fear that now strongly gripped her, sinking its sinister claws into her heart kept her eyes wide and her mind awake. Her closed fist, the one that contained Blaise, clutched him more tightly, fearing the worst.
Meanwhile, you too had heard a third voice, female, and she called Celeste out. But you couldn't quite tell who it was, even less so given the muffling from Celeste's hand all around you. You then heard and felt her footsteps, and you could tell the person to whom they belonged carried more heft than Celeste's, but as she was rather petite and scrawny save for one part of her body, that wasn't a big surprise, and it only widened the scope to "almost anyone" as this possible newcomer's identity.
You could feel Celeste's panic, her hand trembled, and through the flesh that held you, you felt her accelerated pulse. She was really afraid. On any other time, you would've tried to comfort her, or even attempt to defuse the conflict, whoever this third person may have been, but right now, you were kind of relieved, and were hoping they had caught Celeste red-handed. Her voice sounded definitely angry enough despite keeping it subtle, and after what she had done, Celeste was due some much-deserved retribution.
But what would that mean for you? Did she even know about what happened and what she did? Because if they only caught Celeste mid-rant, at most, she'd think she was merely insulting Lillian, and there was a chance that if that was the case, things wouldn't escalate quite as much, and Celeste would have her chance to get away. You were also panicking a little as you considered these things. You weren't in a good or safe spot if a fight broke out, and it wasn't even guaranteed you'd be rescued, but you shook your head and reminded yourself that it was up to you then.
You still had your voice, and if it was loud enough, you could ruin Celeste's plan and at least try to save yourself... But there was no denying that tension was raising all around, and just like they say in books, you could feel as if you could cut the air itself, from how thick it felt with all this tension around. An ominous sense that things were just about to get really wild...
Then, you also considered the possibility that this person may not be a savior to you... What if it's someone else with darker intentions in mind? You felt a cold chill all over your body imagining that, but fortunately you didn't seem to have many enemies. There were a few bullies that would attack and annoy just about anyone, but with Jen and Lillian by your side that was hardly and issue, and male bullies you could handle yourself, but at this size, you were very very defenseless.
Your mind briefly flashed back to some earlier memories. Nothing too specific, but you recalled an old saying your parents translated from their homeland: "A known evil is better than an unknown good", though you heard variations of it, such as "A known evil is better than a worse, unknown one", but the idea was the same. Celeste is obviously bad in this situation, or most, if you're being honest, but there can definitely be worse, though you pray to whoever is listening up there for that not to be the case...
