After several minutes of tinkering on Hotaru’s ‘batteries,’ you felt a familiar vibration on your chest. It was time to make another unscheduled exit. Luckily, Hotaru came with a convenient excuse with her.

“So,” Hotaru started, “what do you think I should us? Coppernisteel or augold? Augold is more durable, but coppernisteel has more conductivity.”

“Uh huh, sure,” you say putting away your phone.

“Uh, that didn’t answer my questioooonn…” Hotaru’s statement trailed on as you unplugged her from the wall. With her powered down, you made your way to the track and field wing.

It wasn’t as far as a run, but you still had to catch your breath once there. You looked around to see Ai, but couldn’t find her. Weird, she wasn’t that difficult of a person to notice, you thought.

Suddenly you’re reminded of when you were hit by that truck after a cybernetic star athlete rammed right into you from behind. You fell onto the ground followed by a giantess falling onto your back.

“Oh gosh, Shujiko! I’m so sorry,” Ai said from on top of you.

“I-it’s okay.” It wasn’t okay. That impact hurt a lot and the weight of the large woman kept you from breathing, but you didn’t want her worrying about that. She quickly got up and lifted you off the ground, dusting you off once you were on your feet. Her limbs looked more like normal human limbs, albeit still made out of metal.

“Sorry about that. My tea club meeting ran a little long so I had to sprint here to make it on time,” Ai explained.

“Wait, tea club?”

Ai blushed as she accidently revealed her membership. “Oh uh… I mean I’m not a member or anything-”

“Oh, I don’t care that you’re a part of the tea club,” you clarify.

“W-really?”

“Yeah. I was just surprised this place had a tea club.”

“Y-yeah. I just saw it and-um- I thought it’d I’d join because…uh-”

“Ai, you don’t need to be embarrassed. You’re allowed to have interests other than sports.” Not only that, you already knew from the game that she was a tea club member, so this isn’t a shocking reveal to you.

“Oh, I-I see. W-would you like to come to a meeting sometime?” she asked still blushing.

“Sure. Just let me know when it happens,” you said. You weren’t particularly interested in tea club, but you liked the idea of spending more time with her. Plus, you were in a good mood thanks to her saving you from explaining why you arrived late.

“Alright, enough about me.” Ai pulls out a soccer ball from behind her back. “We got a game to finish. Don’t worry, I’m wearing civilian legs today, so I should be closer to your level.”

“That’s like saying 99 is closer to 1 than 100,” you said.

“Still closer,” Ai accurately pointed out. "Anywho, I believe the score was 17-0?"

With that, you both got to finishing your soc-football game from before.
