Billy takes off his shirt and tries to loop it ...
Shrinking (Mis)adventure (imported 23-06-10)
Chapter 12
Billy made up his mind. Slipping out of the oversized T-Shirt; Why was his shirt now so big? It had clearly shrunk too but didn’t shrink in proportion to him. The same had been for his boxers which were now somewhere left behind from his pervious escape from his mom’s room. Billy didn’t dwell on that too long; sliding out of the shirt Billy got up close to the door and flung the edge of it up as high as he could trying to hook the door-knob. It took him three tries and he had to jump the last one but the hem of the shirt caught. Billy twisted the dangling shirt into a kind of rope and hoisted himself up. The plan was if he could bet up there he would turn the knob and then use his feet to pry open the door just enough that he could squeeze through.
Billy was close to the knob already so it only took two yanks to pull himself up…already his arms and shoulders were burning. Swinging his legs, Billy place one foot against the door frame and the other against the door. Then bracing himself with his feet he tried to twist the knob – suddenly the knob turned but in the opposite direction. Without warning the door swung inward and Billy was flung down to the floor. At the same moment the monster loomed over him and stepped out and over Billy. Billy rolled onto his back and was looking up at the pillar like legs meeting in a form fitting spandex shorts…then they were past him. Billy cringed as a massive white and pink object swung just over him, so close the felt the wind shift as it crossed over him. BOOM.
Billy looked over into the hallway as the giantess, Kaity, wearing a tight Tank-Top and black running tights stepped into the hall then stopped. Billy froze as his sister’s head turned, her hair, now in a long pony tail swung away and her face appeared over her shoulder. Billy didn’t move. Kaity looked around her eyes scanning but not looking down. There was some kind of expression on her face but then she turned back and disappeared, her long legs carrying her down the hall in two strides and around the corner. The THUNK of a massive form going down the stairs was heard.
Billy got up and quickly ran into Kaity’s bedroom, now that the door was open. He looked around for the remote, scanning everywhere he could see from his relatively low position. He didn’t see it. Was she carrying it or did she already put it in with the stuff for Carol the neighbor? Hearing distant noises like a door opening Billy ran out of the bedroom leaving his shirt behind and then bounding down the enlarged steps, jumping more than anything else, from step to step. Hitting the landing Billy ran to the foyer. Damn the front door was closed. Running to a side table by a chair in the living room Billy climbed up and looked out the window. He saw Kaity’s backside as she carried two bags, one a back-pack the other a large shoulder bag. Billy watched as his sister got into her car and pulled away from the house. He couldn’t see where she went but he went in the direction of Carol’s house just next door.
Billy ran back to the front door. He stopped before trying anything. The door was much heavier and Billy looked at it. The handle was more ornate than the other doors inside the house, and there was a deadbolt higher up. Billy might be able to reach the knob but no way he was getting to the bolt without a ladder or something. Trying to think of what to do Billy tried to calm himself. Okay, the remote wasn’t lost; he wasn’t screwed. What can I do?
Billy stopped to listen. The house was quiet. Okay, so he was alone. Could he go upstairs and get something to stand on to open the front door. No that would take too long. Looking around Billy realized he was being an idiot. The back door leading to the yard didn’t have a dead bolt and often wasn’t locked; the neighborhood was pretty safe. Billy ran to the bathroom his bare feet slapping on the tiles. He ran through the kitchen, forgetting that he had skipped breakfast and slide to a halt by the back door. It was a double; with a screen door on the other side. Billy through about using his shirt again but then realized he left it upstairs, and he was now naked. Billy immediately covered his junk but then felt even more stupid; who was around to see? Billy looked back into the kitchen and saw a dish towel hanging that he could reach.
Subsequent to retrieving the towel Billy returned to the door. IT wasn’t that hard madding a hook by holding both ends of the towel and swinging it up. He looped the knob and was able to shimmy his way up. Using the same technique he had planned before Billy opened the first of the doors. Dropping down to the floor Billy just had to push on the screen door. It hadn’t been properly latched so it swung open with ease and once through clang back against the door frame.
Billy now looked on into his back yard. It looked like it was 3 or maybe even 5 times bigger than it normally was. Taking the dishtowel with him Billy wrapped it around his waist to hide his nakedness and ventured into the yard. The gate was a no go. Just looking at it Billy knew he couldn’t reach the latch and the fence was too high to scale. It was a wood privacy fence with double slats at intermittent intervals. Upon closer inspection Billy saw that there was a space if he approached the fence at an angle; maybe he could snake his way between the fence. Billy tried to fit but it was no good, he was too big and couldn’t get his hips at the right angle to fit between the boards. Billy walked the length of the fence trying to think.
As Billy patrolled the fence trying to think of a way to get to the other side he saw Buttons the cat. How had he gotten outside? Oh, the door was still open and the screen was easy to move. Buttons was huge, like a freak’n tiger or something. Billy stared at the animal wearily but not in fear; he was big enough that he probably could take the cat, probably. As Billy watched the cat, it sauntered over to the fence and then gracefully leapt up to the top of the fence and then crouched there. It was as if a lightbulb went off in Billy’s head.
Billy walked over to the part of the fence where the cat was perched and made sure Buttons saw him. Then Billy laid out like he had when he was pretending to be a toy and hit his upper half under the dish towel making small movements under it. And he waited. It wasn’t long before Billy heard the light thunk of the mid-sized predator jumping back down onto the grass. Billy started making pokes under the towel in wider intervals. He wanted Buttons to be curious and investigate what was under the towel. He felt more than anything else the animal getting closer and closer.
Billy waited until he saw a shadow filter through the strands of the dish towel. He pushed his arm up on the towel and it was bashed rather hard by something from the other side. Billy knew with his superior human brain that Buttons had fallen for the bait. He poked at the towel again and when he felt the cat bat at him he rolled over with his arms wide and threw the towel up and over. For one glorious second Billy had Buttons’ head under the towel with his arms around it. It was a perfect trap. Or it had been until Buttons started thrashing about. Billy held on for dear life as he was bodily lifted up and then slammed back down as the furry monster leapt up and down and thrashed. Several times Billy felt his naked botty struck by what he guessed were paws – thank god Button’s had had the front claws removed otherwise this would have been worse. When Buttons tried to role onto his back and use his back paws Billy resisted and getting his own feet under them dragged the cat forward. He managed to get one leg over Buttons’ back and then half rode, half straddled the cat as it bounced around. He let the towel fall away and held onto the collar as Buttons left up into the air dragging Billy with him. Billy left up and reached up as far as he could…het got it! Billy’s fingers reached over the top of the fence as the cat fell away beneath him. Billy held onto that edge with all his strength and then scrambled to get one leg over the edge…oh that hurt as his naked nut-sack scrapped against the top of the wood plank. Billy straddled the fence for two seconds before forward momentum got him over and he was then dangling on the other side. He let go and fell the few feet to the soft grass below.
Billy panted and slumped to the ground panting. This morning had been way, way too much work. Looking around while he caught his breath Billy saw he was now “free” and could see the Saunder’s residence just a few feet away. They had a shorter fence which was partially privacy fence like his band chain-link which had a high hedge providing privacy. Billy could see people going into and out of the house in the back yard. Carol also had a pool and it looked like tables were being set up near the house and the fence. Some of the people Billy saw were wearing white shirts and black pants…Caterers maybe. It also looked like there was truck dropping off something, maybe food or last minutes supplies for the party. Could He sneak it through the front with all the traffic?
Billy surveyed his options and noticed something as well. There was a latus on the side of the house and it went almost all the way up to the second floor. An it looked like there was a open window up there. Maybe to let the cool air in. Billy had no idea which room was on that side of the house on the second floor, he had rarely every been up there. Might be Carol's bedroom or a bathroom for all he knew.
After a sufficient amount of time had past and Billy got up, again naked now that he lost the dish towel, Billy ran across the open grass field to the shade of the other house. Billy had to think of how to handle this. Looking up Billy guessed it was probably past noon. His stomach growled and Billy realized he felt really thirsty. Billy
What should he do?
