Abbie went with a girl named Heather close to her age. Her newfound roommate accepted her application and in less than 20 minutes, Abbie was in a car headed for her new home. She exited the vehicle and looked at the small home located in a quaint Brobby neighborhood. Her flip flops smacked against the soles of her feet as she walked up to the front door. Before she could knock, the door swung open and an excited tall blonde appeared.

“Are you Abbie?” The blonde asked.

“That’s me.” Abbie squeaked.

“Hi roomie!” Heather leaned down and gave the petite Abbie a hug. “I’m so excited you chose to live with me.” Heather was nearly screaming. “I can’t believe you were a Lilliputian. Oh my god, you have to tell me everything. I mean, I have Lilliputian friends who have visited me, but I never met one that had grown! Oh, you have to come inside, let me take your bag. Do you want some tea; I got the kettle going already.” Heather spoke a mile a minute and Abbie almost had a hard time keeping up.

“Tea will be fine.” She said through a shy smile. Abbie felt small around Heather. Abbie reckoned she was close to six feet tall, about eight inches taller than herself. Abbie listened to Heather’s bare feet slap against the tiled floor as she walked to the kitchen. Abbie stood in the hallway unsure where to go.

“Hey come over here and talk to me.” Heather almost sounded like a little kid who just met her hero. “We need to get to know each other.”

Heather brought a tray with two cups of tea and biscuits to the living room. Abbie sat on the couch and so did Heather—almost a bit too close for Abbie’s comfort. They talked and got to know each other. Heather mostly steered the conversation and talked all about herself.

As it turned out, Heather usually hosted Lilliputians in her home for parties and whatnot. She also had a fling with a Gulliverian male which eventually fizzled. Heather gave a tour of her house (which her parents bought her) and showed Abbie to her room which was fully furnished. It was a small house almost like a bed and breakfast. It felt warm and was pleasantly decorated. It still hadn’t dawned on Abbie that she was now six miles tall.

After the tour of the home, the girls made it back to the living room where they sat lazily on the couch. It was getting dark outside and Abbie was feeling worn out from such a packed day. But Heather continued talking and not leaving Abbie’s side.

“So, do you have a Lilly boyfriend that you left behind?” Heather asked with a smile.

“Boyfriend?” Abbie asked coyly. “I’ve never had a boyfriend, so no.” Her cheeks turned red in embarrassment.

“Really? A girl like you? Why not?” Heather sipped on her bed time tea.

“I guess no one wanted to date me.”

“I don’t believe you,” Heather giggled. “A girl as pretty as you, I bet you were fighting guys off of you on a daily basis.”

Abbie smiled warmly at the compliment. She hardly ever got any compliments, especially from her best friend Connie. Abbie wondered if Connie still considered her a friend after she won the Brobby Lottery.

“You got any friends who want to visit you out here?” Heather asked. Abbie wondered for a second if Heather was reading her mind. “It’s usually exciting for a Lilly to visit Brobdingnag; I bet your friends would love to come out here.”

“I think I’ll ask.” Abbie said thinking about who she should invite.
