“Come quick, honey, she’s already at him!” The woman calls from behind you.
“Oh wow!” Miss Hall responds. You can hear her thunderous footsteps as she rushes into the room. “I just fed her. I’d thought, she’d wait at least until tonight.”
You have no time to look behind and take in what they are doing, although you suspect they are watching you and their lizard.
The lizard jumps at your face again, but you duck and swing under it. You surface on its right side to make your escape. Instead of turning towards you, however, she slips the other direction. Behind her is another tiny woman, a senior last year who you saw around the halls but never officially met who disappeared in the middle of the year. She was wearing ragged clothes and seemed to have lost some weight.
She shouts at the lizard and is poking it with a long, wooden sword, about the size of a toothpick. It furls backwards to face this new foe, walking you with its gigantic tail. As its mouth lounges for her, she slams its face with the toothpick. The wooden sword fails to penetrate its scales, but that does cause it to retreat its head back temporarily.
To protect your own savior, you jump onto its tail. The tail is about one and a half your size and moving quickly, but you manage to land on it. You can’t do much once on top of it, but based on your weight,
Meanwhile, the lizard tries unsuccessfully to take out the woman, but once it notices its tail gone, flips back around. It goes straight for you, and focusing on the tail not the lizard, you don’t see it at its mouth come right at you. Without enough time to process it, you move a bit of the tail into its mouth, causing it to bite down on itself. The lizard snarls in pain, running away as its tail oozes blood.
“That was amazing!” Miss Hall cheers from outside. You look out the glass and notice Miss Hall and the woman you just met sitting on a couch and watching the whole time. They’re holding each other’s hands like they are dating.
“Victoria,” Miss Hall continues. “Show your newest mate the ropes, and I promise there will be a reward later this evening.”
With that, Miss Hall goes back into the kitchen to finish preparing her popcorn: evidently those two decided to have a date night in that evening to watch a movie together.
“Hello, my name is Victoria,” she says, shaking your hand.
“My name is Ken. What is this place?”
“This is hell. It’s a terrarium, where we must fight for our survival against Miss Hall’s other pets.”
