You frowned at the thought on going outside of your "home". You were dreading it all things considered. It's been 5 years since the short lived yet devastating nuclear war that devastated the nation and possibly the entire world. Everything went to shit as soon some nutjob on the white house decided it was a good idea to enter at war with Russia and China and gave full nuclear authorization to it, the worst part? They responded in kind, it was a war of mutually assured destruction, the worst possible outcome. It was a good thing that some construction companies were also making bunkers, you opted to use all the saving you have so they could make you a small bunker beneath your home. You weren't like those rich people that created entire subterranean mansions but is a good thing you didn't went to the public bunker vaults.
You heard nasty stuff occurring there from the local towns.
Yes, there were towns of survivors, some better than others but still survivors. Society isn't the same anymore, in fact, there were times that you asked yourself if it shouldn't be called like that considering the lawless nature of this new world you find yourself it. This was a more or less the recession to something akin to wild west except with mutants creatures prowling around. Kind of like Mad Max meets Fallout.
"And now, we live in it." You thought bitterly. It wasn't as brutal as Mad Max but give it a few years and the worst aspect of people will surface to become something similar of both, for now there is some semblance of order around and that's probably the good part on the wasteland. That and because there aren't many people around those parts either. those that didn't have personal bunkers or vaults - which were many - well.. at least, let's say that they didn't suffered alot.
Today you gonna be out for supply hunt, it's a good thing you have that those radiation proof suits, they werent cheap but nowadays, money doesn't matter that much when there isn't a proper monetary system in place. You sighed and start putting it on, it's gonna be a quick search and scavenge whatever useful thing is left around those parts.
