As you turn around you're facing the sea and you see a gigantic green-skinned mermaid with a nice chest looking down at you as she soon asks. "Pardon me, but what are you doing in my domain?"
You quickly notice her as the mermaid queen and seeing she isn't hostile since her eyes and the gem on her forehead are still blue you decide to keep your magic book hidden and not using magic. Then you speak up. "I'm just traveling around the place. My apologies for entering unannounced."
She lowers her head down to you. "Well, it's nice to see a polite face around here. Seems like you're also capable at defending yourself because you've got quite some gems with you." She says smiling.
You smile hearing her say that. "Thank you. It's also good you're not out to harm me or I would've been in trouble. Small fiends are no issue but you would most definitely take me out." You chuckle a bit.
She then asks. "How about I take you to my kingdom perhaps? The other mermaids won't see you as a threat when you travel with their queen."
You act surprised then bow down to her. "Well, it's an honor to be invited by a queen. I see no reason to refuse." You say.
All of a sudden you're grabbed and nuzzled against her cheek. "Wonderful, except of one issue. How shall we get you there? I can carry you inside my belly, Just a quick hop in my mouth and I'll gulp you down. Don't worry, I won't let any acids flow in and I can circulate oxygen from my gills to you from in there." She says and opens her mouth wide giving you a view of everything in there. Her teeth, big red tongue, uvula and the gaping hole of her gullet.
That is an option and it's safe to trust her. If she wanted to harm you she would've done so without asking you questions first. She even allows you inside her body.
Then again, you can always use a spell to see and breathe underwater. Magic is common around here so revealing yourself as a magic user isn't that big an issue.
