Traveling the Multiverse
Chapter 11
As the Ranger plane flew in the air, you asked, "So... just what you were doing?"
"Well, the field mice I mentioned before had some of their group trapped by a cave-in. I was able to whip up a way to free them," Gadget explained. "Now we're heading to another group of field mice, but ones who driven off some nasty predators, but got injured in the process and may have even had a few kidnapped!"
"And I bet my magic can help with both problems?" You asked.
"If you're willing, but I won't make you. If you do, I can make you a Rescue Ranger. You'd be able to help us solve cases that the regular authorities either can't solve or are unwilling," Gadget answered. Then with a frown, "And besides, this was kind of a membership drive. You'd be my first recruit. I really thought I'd be able to find a lot more, what with how much work we do."
You smirked, recalling your grandma's advice to enjoy your adventure. "I'll help out when I'm in this world. I'm kind of a multiverse traveler."
Gadget looked at you with surprise. "Golly! Then you'd be able to find both interesting stuff I could use to built with, as well as other mechanics! It'd be a dream to form some kind of group to make stuff to benefit peace and understanding!"
"I guess we could," You replied with a smile. "So if I do become a Rescue Ranger, it'd probably be a part time one."
"I guess. Your spells would help us get information and stuff that we'd normally have a hard time getting. I still don't know why human-sized beings can't understand us. They act like all we say are squeak noises." Gadget replied, her cheerfulness fading a little. Inwardly, she began to think of ways to get you to agree to become a full time member. Most were what kind of invention that might get you to want to stay, but she even pondered if she should try to use her body to seduce you and how far she should go.
=o=
You were glad that your spellbook had a number of healing spells, as there were a number of field mice that needed healing in a bad way.
As Gadget said, there were a number of mice that were missing. You thanked your stars that you had a tracking spell.
So you and Gadget traveled on foot towards where your spell said the missing mice were. At one point, you and Gadget encountered...
