The officers share a look before sighing and visibly relaxing.
"Phew, it's just a human. Thank goodness. I thought it was something sc-c-cary like a virus or rogue bacteria. If you're a human then you won't be any threat to us," the lead cell wiped at her brow with a wing with a small smile on her lips.
"You... know of my kind?" you ask uncertainly.
"Well, not personally, but our host is a big fan of a particular manga and anime series starring human beings and news travels fast around the body about such things," one of the mares helpfully explains.
Humans exist in works of fiction in this world? Well if this isn't a just a huge turnaround. You wonder if Lyra Heartstrings is a fan of that same anime that they were talking about. Maybe they hang out sometimes to discuss it? You definitely wouldn't be surprised at all if that were the case.
"So... what would've happened if I had registered as a threat, hypothetically?"
"We would've been forced to tag you and call over one of our white blood cell friends to dispose of you."
Dispose... of... me? You really don't like the sound of that. "She destroys harmful bacteria by ingesting them and holding them in her body until they're neutralized, that is to say, completely dissolved so they'll no longer be a threat, It's not pretty." One of them shudders.
"You don't need to worry about them, though, they only eat bacteria and viruses and are actually very sweet and gentle in person." another one tried to reassure you, with only a partial amount of success.
Wow, you are really glad that you're on their good side, or you might've just ended up as lunch for a hungry immune cell while you were here.
Just then the radio on the shoulder of the lead mare crackled to life and the voice of what sounds like a gruff Fluttershy spills out into the surrounding area. "Unit 54, Unit 54, do you copy?"
The leader antibody, reached up and depresses the button on her radio, replying, "This is 54, we copy. What seems to be the problem?"
The no-nonsense voice on the other end of the radio is short and to the point."There's been reports of a possible harmful pathogen in your area, please be advised and keep an eye out for anything or anyone that looks suspicious. We'll keep you updated as the status changes."
"Copy, we'll begin begin scanning the region and neutralize the threat. Unit 54, over and out."
The lead antibody releases the button and gives you an apologetic look. "Looks like it's back to germ hunting for us. Sorry to cut our conversation short but we're on the clock. A pony cell's work is never done, you know."
"Why don't we take him with us?" one of the antibody ponies suggests, "He wanted to learn about what goes on in the body and this would be a prime opportunity to show him, firsthoof."
The lead antibody considers this carefully and soon comes to a decision.
