Your eyes roved over the page, eyebrows slowly rising to critical levels. You expected that there would be differences in culture, certainly, but you never could've anticipated anything like this!
It seems like for whatever reason, be it the female leaning gender skew, cultural traditions from times long past, or simply the fact that all of their rulers are nigh immortal goddesses, this version of Equestria has a distinctly female perspective on things. In fact, it seems that all of the books on Equestrian history and culture were produced by mare scholars.
Ay least, you think they're mares. Many of them eschewed writing their given names on the books for their cutie marks instead. You had to piece together who is writing what from context clues written in the texts themselves, a somewhat challenging and at times frustrating task to be quite honest.
Allusions to female genitalia are pretty common and mares boasting about how their pussies were so tight and responsive they could satisfy any stallion abound.
You actually crack up at a bard claiming that she could assemble a sandwich with her pelvic floor muscles alone and glibly wipe a tear from your eye.
Even more common is the assertion that stallions are more important than mares in the arena of reproduction because they provide the life-giving seed to grow the next generation of ponies and mares are merely the vessels designed to carry that seed.
You don't know if any of that's true, or how many ponies still believe this, but it kind of makes you feel a bit sorry for them like they get little to no respect for the act of knitting a new life together in the womb...
Should you keep reading or take a breather?
