Chapter 1: Setting the Stage Shrunk by Ace Attorney Girls - Definitive Edition chapter 23 by copier · original author: lolapuff

You're laying on your back looking up at a blinding light. Instinctively you sit up, to look at any direction other than the blinding light.

Your eyes are still a bit strained, but you try to look around. You're sitting on a wooden surface surrounded by strange machines of various shapes and sizes, none of which were moving. You can see lots of exposed gears and springs, as if someone was in the middle of taking them apart. You can't even begin to guess what function those machines would serve.

You try to look further away, but the anything beyond the scrapyard is shrouded in darkness. The light above you illuminates the area really well but it's focused, like a spotlight, so it doesn't let you see very far.

Something about the darkness is deeply unnerving, something that goes beyond your natural fear of the dark. It takes only a moment for you to understand why. You can't see any stars or the moon. This means that you're not out in the open, but instead in the middle of a large enclosed space. So large that the light from your spotlight can't even touch the walls.

A theater? This is your first guess. You're sitting on a wooden surface under a spotlight in the middle of a large dark space. These machines could very well be some strange prop. However, theater stages usually have a back wall on the side opposite to the audience, and you can see no such wall.

Your thoughts are suddenly derailed by a loud voice.

"Is this working? Hello?"

You jump to your feet in surprise, stepping back away from the voice. Despite it's volume, it didn't sound like the person was shouting, just talking. But this doesn't make sense. How can someone speak so loudly so effortlessly? The answer doesn't wait long to reveal itself. From the dark into the light, something emerges. A giant gloved hand, big enough to completely conceal you inside it's fist, reaches out for you.

Letting out a scream, you turn around to run away. But you can't even make three steps before you're grabbed by the terrifying giant. Your legs leave the ground, flailing uselessly in the air. You instinctively hold on to the finger holding you, not wanting to fall.

You're frozen in fear while the hand flips and turns you around, presumably so it's owner can exam you from every angle. Eventually your fear of the giant outweighs your fear of falling, and you try to free yourself by squirming. The hand holding you does not budge, but it stops flipping you around.

"Well, that's wrong. I must have made a mistake somehow." The giant lets out a sigh. From the voice, you can tell she's a very young girl. Knowing this does not make you any less scared of her. "Well! Back to the drawing board!"

From the darkness, another hand emerges, one that's holding a pair of pliers. One that's big and bulky, with a sharp jaw capable of cutting steel. She brings your neck inside that jaw, causing you to go into a panic.

"NO! PLEASE! DON'T KILL ME! I BEG YOU!" You shout with desperation. You hug the finger on your torso with all your strength. Anything that might appeal to the giantess holding you, to make her reconsider ending your life. "I'LL DO ANYTHING! JUST PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!"

"Huh? What...?" She says, with genuine confusion on her voice. "... I wasn't... Why are you saying those things?"

"Y-YOU... Please! I don't know what I did! But please don't kill me!"

"I'm not killing you. I'm decommissioning you so I can use your parts to build a new one."

"... What?" Your voice weakens. "Decommissioning? Parts? I don't know what you're talking about. Please, let me go..."

For what it feels like hours, but it's actually just a few seconds, nothing happens. You're trembling, still hugging the giantess's finger, while she holds the jaw of her pliers around your neck. But eventually she lets out another sigh, and sets both you and the tool next to each other on the wooden surface.

Feeling the weight of death being lifted from your shoulders, all you can do is collapse on your knees and hands. You did it! You're not dead!

You look up at your would-be killer, realizing that you can kinda of see her now. Before your eyes were too tired from looking directly into the light, but now they have recovered enough for you to make out the giantess's outline in the dark. You can see the white in her eyes looking down on you, but without being able to see the rest of her face you can't read her emotions.

Looking carefully, you notice something else. You can only see the giantess from the chest up. The rest of her appears to sink bellow the ground. Unless the ground is actually really far down, and the surface you're on is really far up.

Earlier you assumed you were on some kind of theater stage, but now you can see that you're on top of a really big table, inside a really big room. Everything is gigantic compared to you. This means that the girl in front of you is not actually a giant, you're just really tiny.

"I'm... tiny..." You said, breaking the silence. "What have you done to me? Please change me back!"

"What do you mean change you back?"

"What do you mean what do I mean?" You're still really scared, but you can't help but to raise your voice a little. "I'm not supposed to be this small! Make me big again!"

"You ARE supposed to be this small. That's how I made you!"

"NO YOU DIDN'T!" You scream. "I-I'm sorry..." You shouldn't antagonize her. "But... I'm not supposed to be like this. I was a normal person..."

"You were?"

"... Of course. What kind of question is that?"

"Then you remember being a person, before being a toy?"

"I'm not... I mean, yes. I remember being..." You trail off. You try to recall your past, but you draw a complete blank. "... I don't remember... I've forgotten..."

"No, you didn't forget. You never had any memories to begin with. You didn't even exist until a few minutes ago."

"I haven't... I don't want anything to do with this! Please just change me back!"

"... Wait just a minute."

The girl gets up from her chair and walks away, disappearing into the darkness. You want to run away. Away from the heavy pliers laying menacingly beside you. But you're scared of what the girl will do to you if you run away. You hear her getting something out of a drawer and walking back.

"Here. Just look at this."

She places a small (for her) table mirror behind you. You turn around to look. Your reflection... Well... It's certainly shaped like a human, but it's clearly not one. You look down at your hands. They look mostly fine, just without fingernails. However, you don't have toes on your feet, you don't have genitals, nipples, ears, hair or face, except for two black dots for eyes.

You touch the back of your hand. You skin is really thin, with a hard shell just bellow it. You touch your chest, expecting to feel your heartbeat. Instead, you're met with the soft clicking of gears.
