Brenda seemed to weigh her options for a moment, before letting out a deep sigh, fortunately not right at you.

"I'm sorry, this is all just... a bit much," Brenda lamented as she stood up from the microscope. "I'm just a regular person, I'm not equipped to handle this kind of situation in the slightest! Not that I think anyone is, but, I think we need someone at least a little more capable. I'll go make some calls, I'll be careful to ease into the situation so they'll hopefully believe me. Wish me luck."

With that, Brenda grabbed her phone and stepped out of the room, leaving you by yourself under the microscope. You could hear Brenda's conversation like explosions in the distance, but it was too far away for you to actually understand the words. Though, the tone of her voice made it seem like the call went at least somewhat fine. Considering the fact that she was trying to convince someone that she had found a microscopic person, anything better than being immediately hung up was a win in your book.

Eventually, you felt the world shake again, as Brenda returned to the microscope.

"Well, I tried my best," Brenda explained as she quickly leaned down to check on you. "They said they'd be sending someone over, but I wasn't told anything specific. So, it could be just about anyone, ranging from a party clown all the way to the president. I'm hoping for something closer to the latter end of the spectrum. But for now, all we can do is wait."

And so, that's what you did. Brenda was nice enough to provide you with a crumb and a drop of water, both the size of mountains. So far, the adrenaline had kept you going, but you could tell you definitely needed to refuel by now. The water also allowed you to clean yourself, a privilege you hadn't had all morning. Maybe just staying with Brenda wouldn't have been that after all, but it was both too late to reconsider, nor in your control in the first place.

Finally, the calm was interrupted by Brenda's doorbell. As Brenda left the room, you could tell she was just as anxious as you were, but unwavering in her determination to help.
