Heather's Perspective Revenge of the Geek Gal chapter 13 by copier · original author: penslayer5

"I didn't mean to hurt him." Heather continued to cry as her best friend held her close.

"I know." Patsy whispered. She wanted the blonde to know that she was still on her side.

Heather already knew she was public enemy number one but after what happened in the gym, everyone would be out to get her. They'd think she hurt Charles on purpose because that's what a bully does. They cause harm. She'd hurt so many people, and her past came back to haunt her constantly.

Eventually the pair released their embrace. "What are they all saying about me?"

The goth looked hesitant to answer but did so anyway. "It's not looking good."

"They think I beamed Charles with the ball on purpose, don't they?" Heather spoke sadly.

Patsy nodded. "Yeah, and a couple of people were trying to ask me what happened to you afterward."

Heather was starting to have flashbacks to the day the boys held her down while some girl cut her hair. If she hadn't hidden out in the teacher's lounge, then chances are someone would've found her and done something horrible to her. They'd get away with it of course because she'd lost the fire deep down inside to defend herself properly and the teachers didn't care.

The blonde tried to make herself look smaller and was shaking. "I'm doomed."

"Hey! None of that now. I've still got your back, alright." Patsy tried to reassure her.

"They'll say my parents paid off the principal." Heather wasn't listening. She was lost inside her own head. "They'll drag me back to the girl's bathroom and give me a-"

"Heather!" Patsy snapped as she shook her best friend. The blonde was clearly startled but listening. "You've been through a lot today. Everyone's probably gone by now, so I'll walk you home okay."

Heather slowly nodded. "O-Okay."

"I'm home." Heather called out into the empty void of her home.

The walk back had been calm and quiet since everyone cleared out. It was just her and Patsy and the numerous thoughts running through her head. In her mind she was merely delaying the inevitable. She'd have to return to school tomorrow and face the music.

As she walked through her empty home, she could almost feel the walls closing in. The air felt thinner somehow and the silence eerie. Waling turned into spiriting as she ran up the stairs and into her room. She locked the door behind her and leaned up against it.

Heather could feel her heart hammering in her chest as she looked around her space. The walls were still pink, the bed was still pink, the hardwood shiny. But the room itself looked like it belonged to a completely different person.

Most of the posters and photos on the wall had been taken down, the box of fashion magazines she stashed under her bed had been sold online for cash, the vast closet where she housed her clothes was almost bare as her dresses were packed up and hauled to the basement. She kept the Little Mermaid lamp on the nightstand, and her computer table was now decorated with miniature anime figurines and stickers.

She wasn't Heather "Freaking" Miles anymore. The name was the same, but the person was different. Slowly she walked toward her bed and kicked off her shoes. She just sat there looking up at the ceiling wondering what horrors would await her come tomorrow morning. Perhaps she could pretend to be sick and buy herself some more time.

She turned her head toward the nightstand where the Disney themed lamp resided, and she opened the drawer attached to it. Inside was the case for glasses as well as a few other things, but the most important items was the framed photo inside. Her old self looking genuinely happy stood next to Patsy's old self at the mall.

It felt so long ago. She was the only one who didn't abandon her. The only one who stayed even after entourage urged her to disassociate herself. Her only real friend.

Her vision began to become a swirly mess as she held the photo tight. Aside from this one connection she was well and truly alone.
