Alex knew that she had no way of getting Ian’s attention at the moment. Finding a safe place would give her a much better chance of actually surviving and coming up with a plan to get help. As she looked around the room, she could see that Ian wasn't there. He probably left to go get something, or maybe someone needed him. She didn't know how long he'd be gone, so although she was tempted to explore his room, she didn't have time for that.
Alex started to walk across the impossibly vast floor of the room. She was used to everything being utterly enormous compared to her, but this time, it was far more frightening. She was in an unfamiliar place, and no one even knew she was there. As she walked past the massive pieces of dust and dirt, she could see his bed in the distance. From a normal-sized person's perspective, it wasn’t far away from Alex's perspective at all. But it would take her a while to get there at her size, even if she moved quickly. And even if she made it, she had no idea if someone would clean under there soon. The room wasn't exactly clean right now and she didn't know how often it was, but still. She also saw his desk in a different area of the room. Maybe if she went under it and traveled until she reached the wall, she could see if there were any extremely small cracks that would be big enough for her to hide in.
So, she started moving towards his desk as quickly as possible. She didn't know what would she would do if Ian came back in before she made it. The terrifying thought entered her mind several times, and it only got worse as she felt herself getting tired. She still moved towards the desk, but also started looking for cracks in the floor she could hide in. Hopefully, those would keep her safe if her mission was disrupted. But what if they didn't? No....she had to try to stay positive.
Although it was still pretty far, she was getting closer and closer to her destination. Maybe she'd actually make it.
