Some might have easily considered this face to be unremarkable to say the least, but those who really knew Glenn were indeed able to see more in it. For example that even though he tried at times to hide his feelings behind a serious and sometimes even emotionless expression in his face, he was nevertheless a person who cares deeply about those he feels close to...those he loves. And if there was anyone in this world who knew this to be true, then it was Tifa. The two of them had spent most of their time together back when their lives were still undefiled by the sorrow and pain brought about by a lunatic elite soldier. When both of their lives still had a meaning to them and they were literally able to seize the day, being able to do what they enjoyed the most: being together with each other. To some it might have seemed a little peculiar that exactly these two were able to develop such a deep bond of trust, friendship and love between each other, seeing that at least on the outside, their personalities were visibly different: while Glenn had always been a rather shy and calm person, Tifa on the other hand was a more lively and outgoing person, willing to help those in need whenever she could, putting the well being of others even above her own pursuit of happiness. And ironically, that was exactly what brought happiness into her life again after the traumatic death of her mother: from the day she met Glenn for the first time, all those years ago, not a moment has gone by when she hasn´t thought about him. She instantly realized that he was a kind boy with a pure soul, and he made it clear from the beginning that he liked Tifa. But that´s probably an understatement. Looking back at this magical and sometimes even unreal seeming moment, Glenn remembered that he fell in love with this girl right from the beginning. And it was not just because she had the radiance and appearance of an angel-like being for him. It was the way she has been acting to him, the way she gave him this feeling of being special to her...a feeling only few people in this world gave him. Curiously, that´s exactly the same feeling he gave Tifa, and that´s possibly the aspect the irony of their relationship lies in: without even knowing it for sure, their reasons for loving each other were exactly the same, and they led to the most honest and true - and in a certain way, the cutest and most innocent - romance one could possibly think of being forged.
And for Glenn, nothing had changed at all. His feelings of unconditional love and loyalty toward Tifa were still intact and just as strong as they always had been, and nothing could have possibly changed that. His attachment to her would always remain the unsurmountable and indestructible pillar of his life that gave him hope even in the darkest and most desperate seeming hour. And deep down inside his heart, he hoped - no, he somehow even knew - that Tifa would still feel the same way toward him. After all, there was no one else in this world he trusted as much as her, and he was sure that he still had his place inside her heart.
And their friendship went very deep - far beyond the "ordinary" girlfriend - boyfriend relationship. It was almost as if they were soulmates, too, a theory that was only being underlined by the fact that Tifa was able to see behind the facade Glenn used to hide his feelings, to see his true feelings and emotions. That´s why she sometimes even jokingly told him that there´s no fooling here, so he shouldn´t even think of lying to her. How right she was...that´s why he always knew that he could open up to her, and she was in fact the one and only person he always revealed his true feelings to - and of course not only because of Tifa´s "ability" to see through him (so to speak...), but also because of his utmost trust in the purity of her soul and the honesty of her feelings toward him.
It also sounded more than likely to him that she would have been able to see through him in this situation as well. Deep in his soul, he even admitted to himself that he did not feel completely indifferent while he was holding Tifa in his arms, talking to these two strangers. On the contrary...he would have loved to express his feelings at that moment, and the only way of doing so would have been crying. Crying tears of sorrow at the sight of Tifa being in such horrible pain. Crying tears of joy at the mere fact that he was able to see her again after so many years, even though it would have been of course better for both of them to rejoice and cherish this wonderful reunion under different circumstances - that is, if Tifa herself was able at that moment to perceive his presence, that he was with her again. And of course...he would have also wanted to cry tears of joy at the sight of Tifa´s beauty. She hadn´t changed at all, on the contrary, she was still as gorgeous as he had remembered her. It was almost as if she had not even aged at all during all these years, as if she still was this cute and innocent, but also strong-willed and mature girl at the same time. After all, he tended to praise her beauty at times when they were together, even though he knew that Tifa, while certainly not objecting honest and nice compliments like his, did not always feel comfortable about this, despite the fact that no one in his right mind would dare to say that Glenn wasn´t right about her. So sometimes, he even went as far as calling her an angel, undefiled by impurities, because of her beauty and her kind soul, but that almost always made her role her eyes in annoyance at first, but then she would realize that he kinda awaited this reaction of hers, so she settled for a bigh hearty laugh and a hug (or even a kiss) for her boyfriend whom she thought of as the cutest and most honest person she has ever met.
Naturally, none of that was to be seen in his face at that moment. And perhaps Tifa would have told him not to hold back his feelings and to express them if she had been awake at that time. But there was no need for him to show his feelings before these two strangers who revealed themselves to be Vincent and Yuffie. Surely, he couldn´t care less about what they might think of his true feelings, but he wouldn´t allow anyone to know about his true emotions - except for Tifa. Not even if they really were her friends. But he nevertheless had to deal with them, and he did not think that it would have been a good idea to ignore them and risk being attacked by them in return. After all, they had no bad intentions whatsoever - he could literally feel that their words have been true - and he hated nothing more than fighting against someone with no evil intentions. And as Tifa´s friends, they deserved to know at least roughly what has happened to Tifa, and how he was going to save her. And perhaps...perhaps they could also prove themselves to be helpful allies in his upcoming struggle to protect the girl he loved so much.
Looking at the two at them, still showing no sign of emotion, he realized that they awaited some answers, and it was clear that he had to do at least as much in order to satisfy them.
"I am aware of the fact that you might not know me...but I am an old friend of Tifa. We know each other for a long while, and that´s why I must help her."
"And what exactly is she suffering from?" Vincent then asked, trying to oppose Yuffie´s hot temper by calmy trying to ask Glenn about what he knew.
"It is too difficult to explain in detail, and we don´t have much time for that...but all I can say is that something is tormenting her from the inside, trying to take control over her body, and only her strong will and the purity of her heart prevented her from being lost already."
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Yuffie then shouted, probably because of her being a little confused by Glenn´s cryptic sounding words.
"Yuffie." Vincent calmly interfered, causing the girl to cool down a bit at least and giving Glenn a possibility to continue telling them about this danger lurking inside Tifa´s body.
"And in order to save her...I will have to go inside her body and fight this vile entity threatening her life."
He somehow knew himself how strange this must have sounded to them, talking about such an impossible seeming task. After all, no one has ever heard of such a thing, of traveling into a fellow human being´s body in order to cure this person. How little did they know...even Vincent, despite the fact that he did not show his emotions (much like Glenn), seemed to be surprised by his announcement.
"I don´t care whether you believe me or not. Tifa´s life is the only thing that matters to me, and I am going to save her, with or without your help. Saving her from Sephiroth´s vile curse..."
"SEPHIROTH?!" Yuffie then yelled, with her jaw seeming to drop onto the ground at this revelation. He somehow even expected such a reaction to him mentioning this name, seeing how infamous Sephiroth has been both for his legendary strength as well as his terrible deeds. He had no idea how Yuffie and Vincent would directly react to him after having brought up Sephiroth´s name, whether they would want to help or even think of him as a minion of Sephirth...but he did not care in the least bit. He would save the love of his life, this angel-like being that had given him the strength over all these years. And he would do so with or without their support.
