The Golden Dragon was by far the most expensive hotel in Roanapur. It was located more or less in the middle of the city and it was known as a neutral area where the various mobs would be able to meet should the need araise. Roanapur had three mafias and thus was a chaotic place to live to put it extremely mildly. It wasn't all that unusual to hear exchanging gunfire somewhere in the city nearly every day. A good day in Roanapur meant only one death occurring. There was a police force within the city that lived in the pocket of Hotel Moscow; they were all crooked cops that tried to maintain order without stepping on the toes of the bosses of the three major mafia. The shift of power strongly favored Hotel Moscow leaded by Balaika.
There was a statue of Buddha out in the bay that had no head and had several chunks missing from it. Nobody really knew who had shot up the statue or how but it had involved massive explosives for sure.
The only church was outside the city proper that sold firearms and (allegedly) drugs. The name of the church was either the Church of Violence or the Rip-Off Church depending on who you ask or at what outrageous prices the firearms were sold for.
The presence of several gods in the city didn't cut down the violence at all.
"I've never seen a city as corrupted as this" said Tokimi who stood in front of a window in the room on the top floor of the Golden Dragon. The penthouse of the hotel was occupied with the people that were transported to this city from the Dimensional Cafe. The high price of the penthouse could've bankruptted entire small cities. The gods were living there rent-free thanks to thief influence over the owners of the five-story building that took up at least half of the city block.
"This place would give Sodom a run for its money" said Tsunami standing besides her sister.
The penthouse of the hotel took the entire floor of the fifth floor. It consisted of five large rooms that could easily hold two dozen or more people comfortably.
Haruko was sitting on a huge wrap-around couch in one corner of the room. She was playing her bass with her eyes closed. Haruko seemed to be entirely lost in the music she played. It was as if she was in a trance. The music could be heard from everywhere on the fifth floor and seemed to have a tranquility effect on the mortals who lived in the penthouse. Tempers were all but gone.
The changes in Haruko were subtle. She carried herself a little differently, she was a tad bit nicer to people, she had emerald green eyes instead of a yellow-green color and her voice was a couple of octives higher than usual. She also tended to play her Rickenbacker bass more often.
"What's gotten into her?" asked Tsunami turning to face Haruko. "she seems different now"
"There's a definite change in her" replied Tokimi not turning from the window.
"I'm still the same Haruko" said Haruko not opening her eyes. "I just got in touch with my sensitive side"
"Something happened to you before the Eye of Chaos destroyed the cafe" said Tsunami. "you fell unconscious when that red burst from the Eye came over you"
Haruko said nothing but continued to play her bass beautifully. This went on for a few minutes before Haruko stopped playing all of a sudden. "Naota?"
"What?" asked Tokimi.
"I have a mental link with Takkun" said Haruko. "Ever since he was kidnapped I've tried to contact him but I couldn't. Now I can"
"<Takkun? Can you hear me?>" asked Haruko through the link.
"<Haruko?>" came the response. "<you sound different>"
"<I'll tell you later>" said Haruko.
"Can you tell where he is?" asked Tsunami.
"Not exactly" replied Haruko. "but I know the general direction.....it's.....from the west a few blocks away"

The padded room that Shadow Haruko found herself in was thirty feet long and thirty-five feet wide.
"Where the fuck am I?!" asked the shadow. She even looked like a shadow with her looks heavily obscured with wisps of blackness that seemingly was flowing directly from her body. "how did I get here?!"
"I'm not sure" replied another voice. The shadow turned to see Jinyu and the hippie in one corner of the room. The two were leaning up against the padded walls.
"I remember falling unconscious at the cafe" said the shadow. "whatever that red burst was caused me to fall unconscious and I find myself here. Am I in my own head?"
"Not your head" said the hippie. "You've been pushed to the side by the real Haruko"
"I am the real one!" yelled the shadow.
"You're just a cognitive copy of Haruko" said Jinyu.
"I had two years left" said the shadow.
"Looks like you're out of time" said the hippie. "now you're just inside the head of the real Haruko for some reason"
The shadow sighed heavily and sat down on the padded floor.
"You're not mad?" asked Jinyu.
"Of course I am" said the shadow. "but I'm powerless to leave here. Why aren't I in my Palace?'
"We don't have any answers for you" said the hippie.
"At least we're in contact with Naota again" said Jinyu.
"Takkun?" asked the shadow. "how did he get to this dimension?"
"Good question" said Jinyu.
