Haruko exited the Golden Dragon. She was soon followed by Tokimi and Tsunami. The three women made half a dozen steps before one of the bell boys that worked at the hotel exited the building and followed the three women. Tokimi glanced over her shoulder at the young man that was following them. The young man flinched very slightly and kept on following.
"Looks like you attracted some attention" said Tsunami who also glanced back to see what caught her sister's attention.
"It could've been any one of us" replied Tokimi, now crossing the street. Haruko had her bass strapped to her back.
The four walked three or four city blocks until Haruko started to head down a particular street. Tokimi, Tsunami and the belboy followed Haruko.
"I'm sure I can take care of myself" said Haruko, glancing back to see the three following her. "we've hardly been outside in this city. Don't you want to explore the city?"
"I've been to Sodom" said Tokimi. "this place makes Sodom look like Disneyland"
Tsunami snorted as did the unnamed belboy following in their wake.
Haruko walked down the sidewalk until a building came into view. The building had a sign on it that read "The Infernal Tavern" in fiery letters. There were two bouncers at the entrance to the tavern. One bouncer was a tall and slim man wearing all black while the other bouncer had blightly-colored clothing.
As Haruko and the others approached the Infernal Tavern, one of the bouncers came forward with a smile on his face. The bouncer then started to speak in a Cajun accent so strong it was nearly incomprehensible. Haruko paused in her walking before heading towards the double doors.
The bouncer that spoke Cajun turned to look at Tokimi and Tsunami and said something. Tsunami started to reply in French but aborted it before she had gotten the first word out.
"That's really not gonna work" said Tokimi as she walked past the two bouncers and entered the building.
The Infernal Tavern was filled with people in all shapes and sizes. Some patrons were clearly not human but the vast majority in the bar were human..or, at least, humanoid. There was a crowd of people on the dance floor. A Rob Zombie song was blaring from speakers throughout the tavern. A large jukebox stood near the dance floor.
"My boy, we're pilgrims in an unholy land" said Haruko doing an impression of Sean Connery.
"It isn't as bad as all that" said Tsunami who was tapping her foot with the music.
Tokimi started to say something when she noticed someone she recognized on the dance floor. It was a redheaded goddess dancing with a teenage boy who also had red hair. The goddess had a sizable eye patch covering one of eyes.
Deities can sense other deities if they're close enough thanks to the aura that surrounds a given deity. The more older the deity was, the bigger the aura they produced.
"I'm surprised to see...Lady Hephaetus here" said Tsunami.
"All are welcomed here" said a silky voice.
Haruko, Tokimi and Tsunami looked around to see a woman with silvery hair. Her skin was tanned and she was beautiful beyond words. She was sitting at a simple table apart from the dance floor. The tanned woman was resting her legs on the back of a kneeling man.
The woman stood up from her chair and bowed very slightly to the three women. Tokimi and Tsunami each had a mildly disgusted expression on their faces as they looked at the tanned woman.
"Please allow me to introduce myself to such guests" said the woman. "I am Lady Hild, the ruler of demons"
Tokimi hesitated before bowing her head almost imperceptibly towards Hild. Tsunami and Haruko did the same.
"Where's Takkun?" asked Haruko as she walked over to Hild's table. Hild sat back down in her chair and rested her legs on the back of the kneeling man in front of her.
"He's here" said Hild. "he's fine"
Hild studied Haruko for a long silent moment before she spoke again. "You're not the demon I thought you were"
"I'm not a demon, lady" said Haruko. "I'm a goddess"
Hild looked somewhat disappointed. "Would you care to put on a small concert for us, o goddess of rock and roll?"
"Allow me to introduce ourselves," said Tokimi. "my name is --"
"Did I hear that right?" asked a drunken voice. Everyone turned to see a mauve-haired woman stepping from the dance floor. The drunk had been dancing with a skinny teenager. The teenage boy followed the drunken woman. "There really is a god of rock and roll?"
Tokimi was about to speak when she looked sharply at a blue-haired woman walking from the dance floor. For a moment, Tokimi saw the true face of Lilith who had seven eyes.
"A life-giver" said Tsunami in surprise. "I thought they were long dead"
Rei Ayanami studied Tokimi and Tsunami for a long silent moment. "Do you know me?"
"You and your kin are the products of the Elder Race" said Tokimi.
"Elder Race?" asked the skinny teenager.
"The first race of mortals" said Tokimi. "they wielded great power. The Elder Race explored the young universe and found it empty, thus they decided to fill it with life, and so they made the life-givers, a lifeform with the mandate to seed planets with life"
A redheaded teenage girl with an eye patch over one eye marched right to Tokimi from the dance floor area. "So, you're the one responsible to creating the angels!"
"That's not what she said" said the teenage boy.
"I don't care what she said!" screeched the teenage woman. "she's the one responsible for that angel who nearly destroyed my sanity!"
Tokimi regarded the teenage girl the way one would regard a child throwing a tantrum.
"This life-giver has been elevated to godhood" said Tsunami.
"That's a long story" said Rei. "I am the one called Lilith"
Tokimi nodded. "I thought you looked familiar"
Rei blinked. "I believe this is the first time we ever met, Lady Tokimi"
"Tokimi?" asked Hild. "you're one of the Choushin"
"Lady Tokimi" said Tsunami with mild annoyance in her voice.
"Choushin?" asked Misato.
"The three goddesses that created the multiverse" replied Hild. Hild looked around. "you're one sister short"
"Washu is in another dimension" said Tsunami.
"First we meet the creator of human life" said Asuka. "and then, we meet the goddesses that created everything else. I feel so privileged"
"As you should" said Tokimi.
"Back to the matter at hand" said Haruko. "where's my Takkun?"
"Can't you tell?" asked Tsunami.
Haruko looked up at the five floors up above the tavern proper. "He's somewhere up there in one of those rooms"
"Indeed" replied Hild. "I haven't hurt him or anything. He's been our guest, and I don't hurt guests"
Tokimi looked as if she was going to say something but didn't.
