Your heart is beating out of its chest as you stop and see the open window. It's just the thing you needed to get out of this mess. You rush over and wedge yourself between the table legs and the wall. Using your adrenaline to your advantage, you shimmy yourself up and quickly as you can. On your way up, you feel a slight thump. You look around the table leg but don't see anything. Cautiously you continue upward. When you get to the top, you carefully poke your head over the lip of the table. Directly in front of you is that damn cat!
You quickly duck your head back down. 'Did it see me?' you think to yourself.
You cower just under the lip of the table, waiting for the cat to strike, but nothing happens. You poke your head above the edge again. The cat is still there. You wonder why it isn't attacking until you notice that it isn't actually facing your way. It is sitting on the table, staring at the floor near the couch. Probably looking for you.
You wonder. If you are REALLY careful, could you make it to the window without becoming the cat's plaything? Looking over, the window is so very close. It wouldn't be the stupidest thing you've ever done.
Gently, you ease yourself onto the tabletop and stand up. You manage to sneak around the side of the cat. You have to walk over the cat's tail, but it turns out to be easier than you thought. Once you're clear, you look back at the beast. 'Dumb cat', you chuckle to yourself in your head. Time to get out of here, you think and stroll towards the window.
You don't make it three more steps before something hits you from behind and sweeps you off your feet. As you fall you see that it was the black fluffy tail. *Whump* You land flat on your back and knock your head against the hard wood. You instinctively reach back to feel your head for damage, even though you know its perfectly fine. That's when you see Mr. Kitty. Its head has turned and is now staring right at you. Mr. Kitty then turns around; its tail whipping over you as does so.
You are now face to face with the cat. It's expressionless gaze watches you intently; its eyes adjusting to focus on you. What do you do?
