Silently, the Torn entered Tenchi’s room. Scanning the room, the stolen eye’s of Mihoshi focused on the sleeping bundle on Tenchi’s bed. The thought of crawling back into that bed like last night wafted through the Torn’s mind, but quickly it snubbed that idea out. Nothing would be more enjoyable then trying out this body for more then theft and murder, but it had to find the artifact and then depart. Leaving behind this boy that had given it’s host, and therefore it, so much pleasure not too long ago.
Concentrating on the location of the artifact, it wasn’t hard for the Torn to find the exact spot it was hidden, inside Tenchi’s dresser. Tip toes towards it, the Torn reached for the dresser and pulled open the top drawer. It found a solid wood box, but nothing more. Lifting the object up, the Torn opened it and peered inside. The Torn had expected many different things to be inside the box, but an old sword wasn’t one of them.
Studying the artifact carefully, it sensed the energy flowing from it, but couldn’t understand where the energy was coming from. It took a step forward to examine it in better light and immediately sensed the energy inside it grow. Raising Mihoshi’s head, it lifted the artifact towards Tenchi and right away, the energy soared. Pressing Mihoshi’s lip firmly together, it came to the inevitable conclusion that Tenchi was directly connected to the artifact in more then just ownership. If it was going to complete it’s masters objective, it would have to bring Tenchi along with the artifact for further study.
The Torn didn’t have to guess what would happen to Tenchi if it’s creator got a hold of him and the artifact, it knew exactly what would happen. He would begin studying them both relentlessly, putting Tenchi through grueling test after grueling test. He would break Tenchi down mentally first and then physically, until all that was left of the boy it’s host loved was a beaker full of his DNA. There was no question in the Torn’s mind, delivering Tenchi to it’s creator would be a death sentence for the boy. And what would happen to it? Most likely it would be forced to leave it’s host and be forced into containment. It would be all alone again.
It stood there, the pretty face of it’s host convoluting into different expressions as it tried to do something it was never meant to do, make a decision. It had a mission, a purpose and if it didn’t follow it what would it be? A failed experiment? Another traitor like the Chaos Bringer? It had no idea what it would do if it turned it’s back on the man that had crated him and abandoned its’ only reason for existence. Most likely, if it left it’s creator, it would stay in this host, pushing her to the height of satisfaction and leaching off her emotions like a parasite. If it stayed, nothing would stop the Torn from making Mihoshi happy and content, pushing away any fears, doubts or restrictions to please her. It would be an indulgent existence, but that would not be a bad thing. It would be fun, and that was all that mattered.
Gazing over at the boy it was willing to throw everything away for, the Torn though with all it’s might. It had free will now and was going to use it to make the most important decision of it’s existence. Take Tenchi and serve it’s purpose or stay and indulge in this host and all the pleasure it could get?
