Greed leapt from the window of the residence of King Bradley, also known as the homunculus Wrath. He landed on the ground cat-like and began to haul ass out of sight. Greed had attacked Wrath due to the memories that came to him after killing Bido, someone who he had met in his previous incarnation. How and why those memories came back to him remained a mystery to Greed but Ling insisted that his old soul hadn't gone away when he had been reborn. It really didn't matter in the end. All that mattered was getting as far and as fast as he could for his association with the other homunculi was most assuredly over.
The body of Ling was excellent at running for the Xingise prince was a specimen. Greed managed to ditch his pursuers after running down several city blocks.....and he was using the alleyways to escape to keep out of sight.
Greed ran at full speed. He needed to get out of Central for sure. After Greed was out of the city......well, maybe he could find some new associates in whatever city he found himself in.
By the time that Greed had reached the outskirts of Central he was exhausted but he still kept going. At some point Greed had collapsed to the ground totally drained of energy from running at top speed. Greed spent some minuets on the ground before climbing back to his feet.
"I'm impressed you made it this far" muttered Ling Yao for he had regained control of his body when Greed had collapsed. Ling was hardly in better shape than Greed. Ling was also quite exhausted and his stomach rumbled in hunger.
"What brings you out here?" asked a voice.
Ling was in a narrow alley between two warehouses. It was a fairly dark alley and he had collapsed in the middle of the alley which meant Ling was nearly invisible in the overcast night.
The voice came from a rotund woman that Ling had no trouble in recognizing. It was the new Gluttony. She stood at the end of the alley holding a leash which was attached to a dog. It looked as if she had been walking the dog at night.
"I....uh, just ended my association with the others" said Ling. "....or rather, Greed did when he attacked Wrath"
"That's not Greed's voice" said Riza stepping into the alley. "That must mean...."
Ling nodded. "I'm Ling Yao, the original owner of this body"
"Riza Hawkeye" said Riza. "I was out walking my dog when I caught your scent several blocks back"
"You were walking your dog at night?" asked Ling.
" Well " said Riza sounding a little sheepish. "I'm officially looking for Envy"
"Envy.....that's the one who can change his appearance if I recall" said Ling thinking back when he fought against Envy with Edward Elric. "So...what happened to him?"
"I ate him" said Riza.
Ling gave Riza a blank look and laughed. "So they're down a homunculus eh?"
"Yeah I guess" said Riza. "What are you gonna do now?"
" I'm not sure " said Ling shaking his head. "Greed doesn't know either. Although he did have a vague plan on getting new friends....or, as Greed would put it, associates. Right now, I'm really hungry. Is there a restaurant nearby?"
" Let's focus on getting you out of Central first" said Riza.
"Huh? You wanna help me?" asked Ling. " Aren't you going to take me back to the others? "
Riza chuckled. "I suppose I would if I was on their side"
"Meaning you aren't" said Ling. It wasn't a question.
"I have my own mind, Ling" said Riza. "Don't ask me why. According to Wrath, my humanity was supposed to have been overtaxed by the Philosopher's Stone that's now my heart. I'm guessing because the old Gluttony was rather weak-minded when compared with the other homunculi......all I have is this endless hunger"
"It doesn't matter now I suppose" said Ling.
"Anyway, let's get you outta here" said Riza. "I know just the place to hide you"
The hiding place that Riza had in mind was the same shack where the old Gluttony had swallowed up both Ling and Edward. The shack still looked the same when Riza had last seen it.
