a few days later....
Riza opened the door to her apartment and went in. Black Hayate came to greet her just as usual. Riza sighed as she reached down and petted the dog.
None of the homunculi suspected that she was the reason for the disappearce of Envy by some miracle. Perhaps because Envy spent so much of his time spying that it didn't raise any suspensions. Of course that wouldn't last. The homunculi had no reason to suspect Riza yet. Riza was convinced that they would find out sooner or later.
During the last few days Riza was free to go about her duties as long as she didn't draw too much attention to herself or the other homunculi. As if anyone had the ability to go up against them. Yes, alchemists could probably hold their own against the homunculi, but alchemists weren't gods.....neither were the homunculi. Even the homuncli weren't invincible. Even Father wasn't.....arguably.
Riza managed to control her hunger for the most part. Maybe because gluttony wasn't inherently evil like the other sins the homuncli were named after. Riza didn't fight over control over her own body like that prince from Xing did. It was easy to tell that the prince still resided within Greed which comforted Riza somewhat.
"Welcome home, lieutenant" said a familiar voice from the shadows .
"What do you want, Pride?"
" Father wants us to look for Envy" said Pride.
"Why me?" asked Riza.
" The others are busy" said Pride.
Riza sighed and nodded.
Nearly two hours later, Riza and Pride were on the outskirts of Central.
"I can't smell Envy anywhere" said Riza in an even voice.
"Hmm.." said Pride. "I'm going to go. Continue searching"
Before Riza could answer, Pride vanished from view. Riza glanced around warily as she continued her fruitless search. Pride still might be around watching her from the shadows. Gotta keep up with the facade.
A whimpering sound caught Riza's attention and her Homunculus instincts took over momentarily. The whimpering came from a human orphan. Riza's mouth started to salivate until she stopped herself.
The hunger doesn't control me.
Riza started to walk back to her apartment taking a runabout way.
It was past midnight when Riza reached her apartment complex. She then heard something that caught her attention: cries of help. It wasn't long before Riza found the source.
A woman was being raped in a darkened alley. Riza tackled the man from behind, taking him completely by surprise. Riza dragged the man into the deeper shadows. The woman who was getting raped didn't even hesitate to flee.
"Who the fuck are you?" demanded the man.
Riza glared at the man before unceremoniously shoving the man's head into her mouth. Gluttony made short work of the man, finishing him in three bites.
Afterwards, Riza had to lean on a building.
"Damn it, damn it" she muttered to herself. "I'm in control not my hunger. I'm in control"
Riza walked away. She was too busy chastising herself to notice a teenage boy wearing rags had witnessed everything .
"Holy shit..." was all the teenager could say .
