The moment after Naruto asked how seemed to linger on forever. Naruto, Kakashi and Keiji stood on Kameko’s palm, while Garaa gnashed his sand teeth, sending saliva running down his chin. Needing a plan fast, Kakashi lifted his arm into the air and exclaimed, “Eureka, I got it!”
“You got a plan! You’re the greatest, Kakashi sensei!” Naruto told his teacher in wonder. He knew he could count on the one-eyed ninja for help. He was a well-trained ninja of one of the Land of Fire’s greatest villages. Whatever he had come up with had to be awesome.
“Go talk to him, Keiji,” Kakashi said. He pointed to the frail man, who had turned pale at the moment of Kakashi’s announcement.
“Me?” he whimpered. Feebly he pointed to himself, unable to believe that he was being sent out to talk to the rampaging leader of the Sand village. He looked over his shoulder, seeing Garaa growling and making grunting sounds as sandstorms blew around him. He looked possessed, which could actually be the case considering what’s inside him. Gulping in fear, Kakashi stepped up to him and put his hand on the doctors shoulder.
“Don’t worry, I got a plan. You just keep him busy and I’ll tell Kameko my plan. Don’t worry, everything will be alright.” Kakashi gave the psychotherapist a cheerful smile under his mask to which Keiji returned with his much less happy grin. He could feel a cold sweat running down his back. He was going to have to confront the mad Kasekage and hope he didn’t decide to eat him before going after Naruto. However, he knew he had to trust Kakashi, so he did as he was told.
Kameko lowered him to the roof top and retracted her arm back. The sand storm surrounding Garaa were growing stronger and made nearing the crazed boy near impossible. Keiji looked behind him and saw Kakashi on Kameko’s shoulder whispering something into her large ear. Seeing a look of enlightenment form on the goddesses face gave Keiji hope. Whatever Kakashi had told her, seemed to have gotten the goddess excited and that meant that whatever he had planned was good. Keiji still had his role to play, so he began talking to his strangest patient yet.
“So, you want to eat Naruto, huh?” Garaa gave no response, he just continued glowering at Keiji and liking his lips.
Laughing nervously, Keiji scratched the back of his head, trying to think of what to say. “I know you most be angry right now, it couldn’t of been easy growing up with a demon inside you. But you seem like a smart…um…sand boy, why not stopping your crazy rampage and listen to the voice in the back of your head? I think you know what voice I’m talking about.”
“Do you mean the voice in my head demanding that I strip the meat from your skeleton with my wind and turn your bones into wind chimes?”
“Um, no. I meant your conscience.” Keiji was past scarred right now and very close crapping his pants. He didn’t know how much more he could take and the way Garaa was eyeing him made it doubtful that he’d wait much longer. Needing to know what Kakashi was doing, Keiji turned his head around to check on his friend’s progress. His jaw dropped when he saw Kameko ridding Temari’s fan as a kite high in the air, strait in the opposite direction of where he and Garaa were standing. They were leaving him
“Son of a biOOOOFFFF!” The last part came out as a loud grunt as Garaa’s wind whipped forward, knocking him down. He banged his head on the ground and was knocked out.
“Pathetic,” Garaa growled at the fallen doctor. He tilted his head up, watching his giant sister leave with his meal. His lips pulled back into a sneer. This was getting bothersome.
“You can run Naruto, but you can’t hide,” he screeched and started to leave the roof top. He left Keiji alive, there was no time to kill him. He had to rally the troops. If they were half as hungry for Naruto’s flesh as him, getting them under his thumb would be easy. It was time for the great Naruto hunt to begin.
