“Naruto, where are you!” Cried out Kakashi with Keiji following him at a much slower pace. They had managed to escape from the crazed jonin, who had lost most of her interest in them once she noticed her prey had escaped. She hadn’t wasted her time dealing with Kakashi, Kurenai had been hopping along roofs within seconds of losing Naruto, screaming the boys name and swearing he’d meet his end inside her. It was a wonder that no one was awoken by her cries. No answers had been gotten from her about why everyone wanted Naruto. Her face had been blank when Kakashi asked her about it and gave no answer. When Kurenai left, the two adults began looking for their lost student or patient.
“Do you have to speak so loud?” Keiji hissed, looking around franticly. He was terrified that they’d run into another of the stalkers and this one would want to eat them rather then have them continue searching for Naruto. So far, all the stalkers only really cared about Naruto, but their luck could change easily and they’d have their only hungry ninja’s to contend with. Nothing would make Keiji happier then to forget about this whole thing, go home and curl up with a nice, big bottle of sake. Bit he couldn’t leave as long as Kakashi was with him. The Hokage would have his head for abandoning Naruto and he could lose his license. For better or worse, he was stuck searching for that ungrateful brat.
“Look,” Kakashi said and pointed in front of him. Something was swaying on a pole ahead of them and it looked vaguely human like. Rushing forward, they surveyed the badly beaten body hanging from his underwear. They could hardly recognize the person hanging there nearly comatose from their injuries. It wasn’t until they saw the ripped scarf and mangled goggles that the pieces came together.
“Honored Third Hokage’s grandson!”
Kakashi rolled his eye at Keiji’s horrified expression and concern for the beaten boy. He’d forgotten how much hero worship the village had for certain people. Everyone thought Konohamaru was some kind of perfect angle with huge potential. Personally, Kakashi thought he was a brat that tried to act way too much like Naruto. A shudder overcame Kakashi at the thought of dealing with another Naruto once this boy finished academy. He’d had enough of spunky, vibrant, lunkheads for his career.
“Look a note,” Kakashi commented, ignoring Keiji’s attempts to sooth the bludgeoned boy. He removed the not from the boy’s pocket. It had been hastily put in there and when Kakashi opened it up, he immediately recognized the messy scribble as Naruto’s handwriting.
Dear Quack and Sensei
I left you this stalker freak to deal with. Don’t let him get away, even if he’s the old man’s grandson. I’ve figured out what’s causing everyone to hunger for me and I’m going to pay a visit to granny to see if she can fix it. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine.
-Naruto
Kakashi closed the letter and his mask moved, he was frowning. He knew that granny was Naruto’s less then beloved nickname for the powerful and very age conscious fifth Hokage, Tsunade. Didn’t that fool realize he’d be a sitting duck while he ran to see Tsunade? Not only that, the stalkers would be most likely there waiting for Naruto. And if he got to Tsunade without being seen, who was to say that Tsunade wouldn’t eat him. The boy was heading into trouble, no doubt about it.
“Come on, Keiji, we got an idiot to rescue,” Kakashi said. He didn’t wait for an answer, he grabbed Keiji’s hand and pulled him forward.
“But the honored Third Hokage’s grandson!” His wail went unanswered as the two men went looking for the pursued ninja.
