Gwen and her two escorts -- one of them being Mystique in disguise -- made it to the arena with little trouble mostly due because it was full night by the time the group had made it to the arena. If it had been midday Gwen would've been mobbed by her many fans. As it was there were relatively fewer people out here. There was a curfew on Sakaar although it was much later in the night...and the night had just barely begun when Gwen and her two escorts arrived at the grand arena.
During the day the arena hosted minor fights for the most part. Nighttime was reserved for the more exciting matches. The arena closed for the night at midnight and that's when the curfew started.
The grand arena stood at nearly 50 stories tall and it was probably half a mile long and wide. It simply dominated all of downtown. Gwen and her two escorts entered via one of the side doors which were only reserved for VIPs or upper-level employees of the arena.
Getting to the Grandmaster's apartment at the arena wasn't a straight forward path. The way to the private apartment involved lots and lots of climbing and walking. The path itself was confusing as it consisted of climbing up an astonishing 76 flights of stairs of varying lengths. On the way to the apartment Gwen caught glimpses of what was happening on the arena floor far, far below.
Gwen had been to the Grandmaster's private little apartment only twice before and this would be the first time going there as champion.
<So, what do you purpose the blue meanie wants?> came an inquiry from Venom in Gwen's head.
<I haven't the foggiest idea> was Gwen's retort. <since he provided us with breakfast this morning maybe he has dinner waiting for us>
The group of three came to what amounted to an elevator lobby that had the lone elevator that went to the Grandmaster's private room. The lobby itself wasn't that large or that spectacular. The lobby was a circular room roughly twenty feet in diameter. It had a long bench that ran the length of the room. Sitting on the bench near the elevator sat what looked like a teenage human girl with long flowing raven hair who was wearing sunglasses. The girl was reading from a book bound in leather. As the group came up to the teenage girl Gwen noticed that the sunglasses that the girl wore didn't completely covered her eyes which were purple in color.
"Who are y -- " started the elite guard when Mystique yelped in pain. Gwen, the elite guard and the teenage girl all looked at Mystique. Mystique's right leg was being attacked by what looked like shark on legs. The shark was barely five feet long and had a collar around its neck with the name of Jeffrey on it. The shark had bit the leg but, as far as anyone saw, the bite had not broken skin.
"Jeff!" chided the teenage girl getting off the bench and going over to the shark and picked it up. "be a good boy!"
"A shark on legs...." said Gwen in a quiet voice.
"Are you alright?" asked the elite guard to Mystique.
"Yeah...." replied Mystique looking down at her leg and saw that, indeed, it wasn't bleeding although the bite did felt like it should've broken skin.
"Poor Jeff here doesn't know his own strength" said the teenage girl petting Jeffrey the land shark exactly like a dog or cat.
"Who are you?" repeated the elite guard to the teenage girl. It was at that moment when Gwen realized that the book that the teenager had been reading had mysteriously vanished and was nowhere to be seen.
The teenager shifted her gaze at the elite guard before looking at Gwen and Mystique.
"Glad to meet all of you," said the teenager standing at her full height which was nearly six feet tall....which was confusing because Gwen could've sworn that the girl had been much shorter a moment before. The girl continued, "allow me to introduce myself. I am Galacta, daughter of Galactus....but you can call me Galli"
Ten beats of silence followed this proclamation.
"I wasn't aware that Galactus had any offspring" said the elite guard.
"What brings you here?" asked Gwen.
"This little rascal" replied Galacta, indicating Jeffrey. "I was tracking down a cosmic organism that had found its way to the Bermuda Triangle. Little Jeffrey here got separated from me. Turns out he slipped away by going through a wormhole. Normally, you would find a wormhole out in outer space but, with very few exceptions, a wormhole can be found on a planet. Turns out that people that go missing in the Bermuda Triangle end up here on Sakaar. The organism I was tracking down also went through the wormhole and ended up here. The pesky thing managed to give me the slip for almost two days before I finally caught up with it and ate it"
Mystique took a closer look at Galacta. "I saw you before. It was six, seven days ago. You were here at the arena watching a match"
"Six days ago...." said Gwen slowly. "six days ago was my match against, uh...Azaralus"
"Now that was a fantastic match!" exclaimed Galacta. "lots of back and forth. I was totally rooting for you, Gwen, and that's surprising even for me. I've been fairly neutral in the matches I've seen so far but I couldn't help but root for an Earthling....and, yes, I am bias because I like Earth and every mortal on it"
"There's a wormhole that leads to Eartn?" asked Mystique in mild interest.
"Yes, indeedy" nodded Galacta. "I do believe the wormhole is called Yarrow's Folly"
The name clearly meant something to Mystique although she didn't elaborate.
"Well," said the elite guard after a long moment of silence. "let's not keep Grandmaster waiting much longer"
"Right, right" mumbled Mystique.
"By all means lead the way" said Gwen.

Gwenpool arrived at a four-way intersection somewhere in the arena. She had followed Gwen and her escort at too far a distance to fully follow them and so had gotten hopelessly lost in the labyrinthine hallways of the arena. The hallways were starting to look exactly alike to Gwenpool.
"What I wouldn't give for a mall map" muttered Gwenpool looking down three of the hallways. "the kind that has a big arrow on it that says 'you are here' "
Several minutes later Gwenpool chose to take the right hallway. It proved to be a long hallway that eventually led to an outside balcony. The balcony was a narrow one and could easily hold ten people with chairs. One of the chairs were occupied as Gwenpool saw as she came up to it.
The person sitting on the chair had golden skin and had flames for hair. From what Gwenpool saw the young woman had no clothes on although it was hard to tell due to the golden skin. Gwenpool didn't recognize the woman at first. However, after a few moments of Gwenpool searching her memories, she was able to name the woman before her. The woman was Nova, AKA Frankie Raye, the Herald of Galactus.
"Hello there, Gwenpool" said Nova.
Gwenpool blinked. "You know who I am?"
"Being the herald of Galactus I don't miss much" said Nova turning to face Gwenpool.
"Speaking of Galactus," said Gwenpool. "he's not coming here, is he?"
Nova laughed. "No, this world wouldn't even make a snack for my master"
Gwenpool sighed in relief. "Then, what are you doing here? I can't imagine Galactus lets you go on vacation much"
"I found two planets that should keep the big guy busy" said Nova. "I've only been here for like a hour now. I fully expect to go back on duty, as it were, in eight hours.... give or take"
