After a moment of silence, Pumpkin Head brought the flute to the grin of the jack-o'-lantern he had for a face. On closer inspection, Gwen saw that Pumpkin Head had what looked like tree limbs for arms, legs and body. Did that mean that Pumpkin Head wasn't human?
It was plain that Pumpkin Head was planning on playing the flute in his hands but he didn't have lips so how in the hell was he going to play it?
Pumpkin Head was no more than three feet tall. The pumpkin on his head looked to be a real pumpkin and not a mask or a helmet now that Gwen a closer look. The pumpkin didn't even have ears carved into it so Gwen had no idea how Pumpkin Head could hear.
Gwen's spider-sense told her that if Pumpkin Head did play the flute it would be bad. Like catastrophic bad. Gwen shot out a web and was able to snatch the flute away from Pumpkin Head. As soon as Gwen grabbed the flute it turned into an ordinary tree branch.
"What?" asked Gwen.
"Hey, who told you it was alright to take my toys?!" roared Pumpkin Head.
By this point, Doc Ock had climbed up to the roof of the warehouse via his extra arms. "Now to deal with the two of you"
Pumpkin Head glanced at Doc Ock before reaching into an inner pocket of the duster he was wearing. Pumpkin Head seemed to be rummaging through the pocket by touch alone. Pumpkin Head mumbled to himself as Doc Ock advanced on both him and Gwen.
Gwen took up a fighting stance ready for any attack that came her way. Pumpkin Head backed up away from Doc Ock as he kept rummaging through the pocket, mumbling all the while: "Come on, come on. I know it's there"
Doc Ock's attention was on Gwen alone so he didn't see it when Pumpkin Head finally pulled out a flimsy-looking mask. The mask looked to be cheaply made and was painted red and black as well as having a pattern that looked like a spider's web.
"Aha!" exclaimed Pumpkin Head. "I knew I had it somewhere"
The yell of triumph drew the attention of both Doc Ock and Gwen. The two narrowed their eyes at the mask that Pumpkin Head was holding.
"Just what are you planning to do with that?" asked Doc Ock.
"This" replied Pumpkin Head as he reached over and slapped the mask in his hand onto Gwen's head.
"Wh -- " was all that Gwen got out when she felt the change happening. The change started near her waist and her rear end started to expand like a balloon. The next thing that happened was that Gwen started to grow extra legs from out of her bloating rear end. Both of her arms and hands were also mutating into long claws...no...not claws. They were changing into -- Gwen had to think of the proper term -- pedipalps. From the sensations coming from her mouth she was now growing new teeth -- or very possibly fangs. Gwen's spider costume was naturally torn apart by her strange metamorphosis.
Gwen's transformation into a grotesque mixture of spider and human took several minutes. Gwen's body looked normal save for the fact that it was now attached to a spider's abdomen the size of an elephant. Her exposed skin was covered in small hairs not unlike a tarantula. Gwen was basically a giant tarantula the size of an elephant that was attached to her upper human torso. The hairs that grew all over her new body were long enough to cover Gwen's nipples.
"What on Earth?!" exclaimed Doc Ock who was understandably shocked being confronted by a monstrous spider\human hybrid the size of an elephant.
"What did you do to me?!" asked Gwen turning to face Pumpkin Head. She had trouble talking and her voice had an odd clicking quality.
"I didn't do anything" said Pumpkin Head. "it was the mask"
The mask that had changed Gwen into a monstrous spider had somehow fused into her skin sometime during her metamorphosis. There was no trace of it.
"Oh, don't get smart with me you little --" started Gwen. Her voice had trailed off when she felt a tremendous hungry sensation feeling welling up within her. Gwen slowly turned to face Doc Ock who was in the act of getting ready to strike at Gwen. Doc Ock never had the chance to strike for Gwen had moved with a surprising amount of grace given her size. In one smooth movement Gwen had Doc Ock wrapped up in all eight of her powerful legs. Doc Ock tried to free himself, of course, but it was fruitless. Each of Gwen's legs were nearly as thick as tree trunks.
Gwen moved to bite Doc Ock on the neck with her long fangs when she stopped herself at the last minute.
"Aw, don't stop now" whined Pumpkin Head sounding just like he had just missed the sweetest treat. "it was getting to the good part!"
"God, what am I doing?!" asked Gwen sounding horrified over what she had been about to do. Gwen held firm to keep Doc Ock wrapped up in her legs as she glanced down on the ground to see that the woman from Hydra was nowhere to be seen. Must've ran off.
"Turn me back!" snarled Gwen at Pumpkin Head.
"You'll turn back when the sun rises" said Pumpkin Head. "that's when all of my tricks end"
"Aren't you going to go after my partner?" jeered Doc Ock.
"Someone else will catch her" growled Gwen. "and now, I would like to know just who the hell are you --"
Gwen had turned to face Pumpkin Head but Pumpkin Head had vanished. Gwen looked all around to see that Pumpkin Head was nowhere to be found. "Where did he -- ?!"
"I bid you farewell, Miss Ghost Spider" came the voice of Pumpkin Head. His voice was coming from seemingly everywhere from the surrounding fog. "the night is still young. I have more tricks to pull off before this night is over and done. Perhaps I'll see you next Halloween"
"Now just a minute here!" yelled Gwen as she noticed that the surrounding fog was beginning to lift. "turn me back into a human!"
There was no reply from Pumpkin Head. Gwen groaned.
"He did say you'll turn back by sunrise..." said Doc Ock more to himself than to Gwen.
Gwen threw Doc Ock a look and bared her fangs at him.

Gwen did turn back into a human in the morning. She spent Halloween night hiding out so that she wouldn't appear on the news. The last thing that Gwen needed was J. Jonah Jameson reporting on Gwen turning into a monstrous spider.
For five hours, Gwen was able to keep her hunger in check. It was three in the morning when Gwen decided to go to another dimension that she had visited briefly two weeks before. It was a dimension where the Nazis won World War II (largely with the help of Hydra) and they had converted the people of the world to their way of thinking (by the help of Hydra) and, if Gwen had to feed on people, she might as well feed on Nazis and Hydra agents. The more people that Gwen hunted down the more her humanity was slipping away. Gwen just couldn't help herself from hunting down and eating people -- well, not technically eating people; she was draining them dry of everything due to her venom turning organs into a kind of jelly. In essence, Gwen was more spider than human. Gwen's dimensional watch had somehow remained on her wrist when she had transformed.
Gwen awoke in the morning in a narrow alley. To her delight she was human once again... and she was totally naked. Fortunately there were...victims that had no use of their clothes again. In short order, Gwen was dressed in mix matched clothes. After getting dressed, Gwen returned to her own dimension. Gwen ditched the mask that had transformed her before going back to her dimension.
Gwen hadn't noticed what was on the far end of the alley. It was an egg sac the size of a bowling ball. A moment later, the egg sac broke apart to reveal five spiders with the upper torso of Gwen Stacy.
