Daniel was a mess, a depressed and desperate mess. He knew that one day he may have to reveal the truth to Diana about the circumstances of her size, but he never wanted things to end the way they did.
She'd been so hurt and angry and all because he chose to lie to her. He even dragged his wife Demi into it. He felt like a real heel. Why couldn't he had just come out and told her the truth earlier? He had more than enough time.
Was it because he was trying to protect her? If so than from what? Herself maybe? No, even he knew that was a bold faced lie. No, the real reason he never came clean was something he never even told his wife... he was a coward.
He was scared, scared of how Diana would react. He feared she might snap and accidentally hurt him. It probably took all her self control to not do so. She easily could have given her size and how volatile the situation was. Instead she packed up her things and left them.
The heartache he felt when when denouncing him was something he couldn't even begin to describe, and that horrified and crushed look on Demi's face was something he would never forget. It was just another burden he'd have to carry.
Right now he was making his way through town on his wife's motorcycle as it was the fastest vehicle they owned. After Diana left and he calmed down he made the choice to go out and track her down. He needed to apologize and try to fix things somehow.
While driving through town he immediately took note of the crowd of people huddled around a few crushed cars and damaged buildings. It didn't take a genius to know his daughter had been through here. Thankfully no one would recognize him at the helmet on his head, otherwise things might get ugly.
He began to wonder this time if the damage was intentional or not. With Diana in the state she was in he wasn't so sure. Daniel just hoped she'd stay out of trouble and not do anything rash.
He picked up the pace until he came to an intersection that was being walled off with signs. He lifted the helmet's visor to see a large crater in the center along with some busted up road. "No question she's been through here."
Daniel flipped down his visor and weaved through the area despite the police warnings. He didn't care about them, there were only two people in his life that mattered to him.
He kept diving for a few more minutes until he came to a dead stop. He could hear the curses of civilians and the honking of horns. Not to mention he could see detour signs all over the place and roadside workers motioning people to take the long way around the large structure in front of them.
Daniel's eyes nearly popped out of his skull when he saw that structure. It was the blanket he and Demi made for Diana. That meant directly under it was her. He found her. But why was she camped out in the middle of the road?
Ignoring the traffic workers he drive around them and followed the blanket. It took him a while but eventually he arrived in the park, and there he saw Diana lying down with her blanket thrown over herself.
"Bingo!" Daniel nearly shouted before parking across the street. He thought about what he would say to her and wondered if he should keep the helmet or not. The logical part of his brain said yes and he saw no need to say no. He gulped nervously and began to slowly enter the park.
As he got closer he began to panic inside. What if his mere presence pissed her off so much that she'd step on him or crushed him in her fist or... No! No! No! He shouldn't think like that. This was still his little girl... big girl. He needed to be brave and just talk to her.
Once he got close enough her head began to turn towards him. Crap! Did she recognize him through the helmet!? It was cherry red with a tinted visor, there was just no way!
"What do you want!?" she asked, her voice scathing to the ears.
Oh yeah, she was pissed.
His lack of an answer made already deep scowl deepen further. "I asked what do you want!?"
Daniel's knees were shaking and her voice was starting to draw a crowd.
Shit! What did he do now!?
He had to say something!
