"Zero! Ready or not, here I come!" Zang Xiu spoke loudly so her prey could hear her. Using her magic to enhance her senses, she could tell that the tiny duo were still in the living room with her, somewhere.
Based on their size they couldn't have gotten far from the time she left to go to the kitchen and come back. So, that begged the question, where were they hiding? The woman in black tapped her chin before a clever idea came to mind.
She sat down at her coffee table and casually poured herself a cup of hot tea. This was a trick she'd used before in the past and no doubt it would come in handy again here.
Once the cup was full enough, she dropped a tea leaf into the center of the dark liquid and whispered something under her breath. All of a sudden, the tea leaf appeared to come to life, circling in the liquid like a compass. Zang Xiu smiled as she stood back to her feet. "Now, let's get started."
As this was going on, Xiao-Long Chao could help but feel anxious. He and Lao deiced it would be best to split up to better their chances of survival. If the cruel woman in dressed in black caught them both together then it was game over.
Speaking, he couldn't see the giantess, but he could hear the sound of her footfalls on the hardwood floor. Each and every step she took frightened him, and he could only imagine what she'd do to him if she ever got ahold of him for going with Lao and disobeying her orders to stay put.
Zang Xiu seemed to be able to warp reality somehow and shrink people down to the size of toys. What if when she got ahold of him, she decided he was more trouble than he was worth and shrunk him completely out of existence?
The tiny shop owner's eyes widened at the prospect of shrinking down into nothing, similar to Yellowjacket in the first Ant-Man movie. The only difference being this wasn't a movie and there be no sequel a writer could whip out to revive and reuse him somehow.
Chao was lost in his own thoughts and fears that he almost didn't register that his captor's footsteps were moving ever closer to his position. It was when her perfectly manicured feet came into view that his heart nearly stopped. That and the sound of her honey-like voice taunting. "Mr. Chao... come out, come out, wherever you are."
A thick layer of sweat was forming on the man's brow because she'd called him out specifically. It would be one thing if she was hunting blind, but she was looking for him.
He, he couldn't let her find him. He needed to stay hidden and out of her grasp if he wanted to make it out of her home alive and in one piece. Unfortunately for the little man, the kaiju-like woman was just playing games. She knew exactly where he was.
The tea leaf had pointed her towards a fine China cabinet near the back wall of the living room. Chao was no doubt hiding under there to keep away from her. It's just too bad that the dresser-like cabinet wasn't going to do much to protect him. But that's when another idea came to mind.
Xiao-Long Chao heard the woman snap her fingers and the sound itself made his heart sink. She'd just done something, but he couldn't tell what. Then he heard it. An odd hiss from behind like something out of Ridley Scott's Alien. Reluctantly he turned his head and let loose the loudest scream his tiny little lungs could muster.
He ran out into the open without a second thought as a demon ripped straight out of his worst nightmares pursued him from behind. Those eyes, those horrible nightmarish eyes. The blackest eyes, the devil's eyes. Those sharp fangs, that dark carapace, and those legs. Those long dark legs. Of all the evil creatures on planet earth to hunt him down like an animal, why did it have to be a spider? He hated spiders!
Zang Xiu watched closely as her prey ran for his life from the creature made flesh ripped straight from his nightmares. With her enhanced vision she could see the fear and panic on his face and how he didn't dare to look back. He was too scared to look his greatest fear in the eyes and his only widen further when he noticed he was running right at her.
The giantess couldn't deny that the sight was very fascinating. Xiao-Long was more scared of arachnids then he was of her. He was so frightened that he would rather take his chances with her than the venomous predator that was hot on his heels. Now was as good a time as any to scoop up the little man, but another part of her kind of wanted to see how he'd fair against his greatest fear.
It'd probably kill him, but if she allowed that to happen then that was one less toy for her to play with. But at the same time, she knew spiders liquefied their pray from the inside and she kind of wanted to see that. Decisions, decisions. Did she save Chao from the monster... or did she let it have its way with him?
