Despite the ever-growing fear that the giantess could return at any moment, Xiao-Long Chao and Shang Lao continued to sprint across the hardwood floor towards the front door. If they could just reach it before Zang Xiu came back and discovered they were missing, then they'd be home free.
"How are you holding up back there?" Lao asked his partner in crime.
"Just fine. Thanks for asking." Chao replied as he huffed and puffed.
Between the two of them, Shang Lao was clearly in better shape as he'd taken the lead. Chao on the other hand was lagging behind, already too exhausted from the distance they traveled.
Unfortunately for the tiny duo they weren't even halfway to the finish line before sound of footsteps filled the air. Both men froze for a moment and turned to see Zang Xiu was now leaving the kitchen, sporting a silver tray and tea set.
"Oh no..." Chao whimpered as he realized what this meant for he and his companion.
"We have to move, now!" Lao snapped, tugging the man's shoulder. "If she finds us, we're dead! We can't stay out in the open!"
Chao knew that the man was right and that freezing up now may as well be a death sentence. They had to go and find some cover before the woman and black found them missing from the coffee table.
Zang Xiu meanwhile paused when she finally reached the coffee table. Something was amiss and she didn't need to be genius to figure out what that something was. Her two new toys were nowhere to be found. They'd disobeyed her, deliberately.
A small part of her was annoyed by this but it also wasn't unexpected. She did take a long time in the kitchen after all. With her magic she could've had the tea ready is seconds but took her sweet time because she wanted to gauge her new playmates somewhat.
Not only did Chao still have some fight left in him but so too did the little mugger. She gently placed the tray down on the table and turned her attention fully to her living room. With her hands on her hips, she briefly scanned the area with her eyes before a small smile worked its way onto her face.
They were here somewhere; she could feel it. Which means that she was going to have to hunt them down. Zang Xiu loved to go hunting and unfortunately for the little men, she was in her element. If they wanted to play hide-n-seek then that was just fine with her.
She snapped her fingers, and a small pulse went out. The open window shut and locked itself and any other doors and windows in the house did the same. If they wanted to escape her then they were going to have to really work for it.
"Alright little men, I'm going to close my eyes and count to ten. If you don't come out and show yourselves then I'm going to hunt you down and capture you, and when I do, you're going to wish you died on the trip over here."
Her words struck fear into the hearts of the tiny pair. Chao was saying a small prayer while Lao gulped nervously. Getting captured wasn't an option as the consequences would be far too great.
"Ten... nine... eight... seven... six... five..." Zang Xiu began to count.
Chao could feel his heart racing.
Lao could feel his skin becoming clammy.
The giantess continued her count. "Four... three... two... one..."
This was it, game on.
