Xiao-Long Chao knew he couldn't trust a word the giantess said. The woman in black was crazy so for his own sake he had to escape as soon as possible. He looked towards the mugger and nodded his head. "I'm with you. What's the plan?"
Shang Lao didn't show it, but he was grateful to have an ally in all this. He wasn't afraid to go it alone but having an extra set of eyes watching his back was welcome. "The first order of business is getting down from this coffee table. I survived being used as an insole, so it stands to reason I'm durable enough to survive a drop from this height."
"Same here. She also used me as an insole after she shrunk me." Chao revealed to his only ally. He saw how Shang Lao's eyes widened at the revelation he'd been through the exact same hell.
"That woman is a menace." He seethed. But from the sound of things, she hadn't beat Chao up like she did him. Luck bastard. Oh well, that didn't matter. What mattered was escaping while the woman was distracted. "Anyway, once we drop down, we'll have to decide whether or not to try and get out through the front door or a window."
Xiao-Long Chao looked off into the distance and noticed that there was a pet door installed on the front door and that one of the windows in the living room was left slightly cracked open to allow the cool night air to rush in.
"What if she comes back while we're trying to make a break for it?" He asked Lao with clear worry in his voice. If Zang Xiu caught them then who knows what she'd do to them.
"We're small enough to hide pretty much anywhere." Lao shrugged. While he may be correct about that, it didn't do much to calm Chao rapidly rising nerves. Getting caught was the same as certain death and they were also small enough that Zang could do pretty much whatever she wanted with them. "Alright, let's go."
Xiao-Long Chao gulped nervously and followed closely behind Shang Lao. They both reached the edge of the coffee table and saw just how big of a drop it would be. Neither man was afraid of heights but the gap between them and the hardwood floor was still daunting.
"Screw it." Lao whispered before shutting his eyes and taking a deep breath. "Here I go."
Chao watched in morbid fascination as the man balled his fists and stepped right over the ledge. He dropped like a rock at frightening speeds and slammed hard against the ground. He didn't even bounce either, he just hit the dark wood with thud. "Lao!? Lao!? Are you still alive!?"
The answer to the question came in the form of a shaky thumbs up. So, they were durable enough to survive the drop. It would just hurt like hell after gravity did its job. The things Chao would do for self-preservation. He bit his lip and let himself fall forward.
He was overtaken by a feeling of weightlessness as he fell to the ground and felt the wind rushing past his face. Regardless he didn't open his eyes and waited for the explosion of pain that would come upon impact. Oh boy did the pain come.
Lao winced when he saw Chao hit the ground next to him. The man landed face first and the groan of agony that left his lips actually made him feel pity for the guy. He probably looked like that when he fell and hit the floor. "Chao!? You still with!?"
A shaky thumbs up was his answer. Lao was eventually able to make it to his feet and gently helped Chao to his. They both survived the drop and would no doubt develop a fear of heights in the very near future.
"It's time to move." Lao spoke.
"Yeah, sure." Chao agreed.
Right before the two could begin to advance they were halted by the sound of noise coming from the kitchen. They could hear the sound of footsteps followed by wooden cupboards and pots. Whatever was going on in there made the pair feel anxious and only fueled their need to escape. It was time to get a move on.
