A storm seemed to have rolled in over the B.L.A.C.K facility, bringing with it both thunder and lightning. Heavy rain came soon after and the sound of it pelting the ground could be heard on the upper levels.
It was the perfect setting for the experiment that was about to take place, reminiscent of Frankenstein's monster. The only real difference being that the creature being born would be beautiful. Nothing like that amalgamation of limbs and stolen organs.
Deep within the bowels of the base Rei lay motionless, staring up at the blank white ceiling overhead. Where she was, her father called it the rebirth pool. That made sense considering it looked like an empty one.
It was larger than any pool she had ever laid eyes on and from what she could understand, the open holes is where water will flow in and transform her. She was excited and nervous at the same time. This was really it.
Meanwhile off to the side, Sakurai, Havoc, and Tanaka all waited as the scientists finished prepping. A long tube fed into the wholes of the pool and back into the main lab where the meteorite fragment was housed.
The plan was to liquify it and send it into the pool with the subject. After that, hit them both with an electrical charge. Pain would be inevitable, and the rewards worth every second of agony.
"Are we ready?" Sakurai asked one of the scientists. A man dressed in an all-white jumpsuit with a surgical mask saluted before answering.
"We're ready. All you have to do is say the word and the experiment can begin." he explained.
Sakurai was pleased as evident by his smirk, one that was mirrored by Havoc while Tanaka scowled. "Good. We begin the experiment in ten seconds."
He then turned his attention to his two collogues.
"Gentlemen? Do you mind helping me countdown towards our bright future?"
"No problem." Havoc answered.
"If I must." Tanaka sighed.
Sakurai felt giddy. "Wonderful. From the top..."

"Commence the experiment!" Sakurai ordered.
The scientist nodded and sent the word. Back inside the main lab the order came through and the men in white began their work. Equations were calculated and commands were punched in. Lights flickered inside the tube that held the meteorite.
Orange liquid began to fill the tube as parts of the space rock began to breakdown. It was an amazing sight to behold but the worker bees wouldn't allow themselves to be distracted. The process was delicate and demanded their full attention.
"Everything's in the green. We are a go!" one of the scientists stated from his computer.
"Excellent." another flipped a switch. "Jenkins... pull the lever!"
Jenkins saluted. "For the project!"
He pulled the lever down.
